157.15 Tue Feb 26 03:07:42 CET 2019
16 - INCOMPATIBLE CHANGE: AnyEvent::Handle's tls_detect documentation gave
17 separate major and minor versions, while code passed only a single
18 value. This version follows the documentation and now passes separate
19 major and minor values.
20 - work around Net::SSLeay not having been ported to openssl 1.1, but many
21 distributions compiling it against openssl 1.1, which unfortunately
22 succeeds and results in a very broken module.
23 - AnyEvent::DNS::dns_unpack now stores the original DNS packet
24 in the __ member, to allow decoding of undecodable resouce records
25 containing compressed domian names.
26 - AnyEvent::Socket::parse_ipv6 would NOT, as advertised, accept ipv4
27 addresses. It now does and converts them to ipv4 mapped addresses.
28 - support CAA records, based on patch by Steve Atkins.
29 - add freenom and cloudflare nameservers as dns fallback.
30 - AnyEvent::Strict would not properly ward against io watchers
31 on files when the handle passed was a file descriptor.
32 - document "internal" variables used by the dns en-/decoder to allow
33 enterprising users to extend them in a semi-official way.
34
357.14 Sat Jun 24 01:44:19 CEST 2017
36 - fix a crash bug in AnyEvent::Handle with openssl 1.1.0 (patched
37 by Paul Howarth and apparently tracked down by Mike McCauley).
38 - AnyEvent::Handle->keepalive was documented (and defined) twice
39 (found by Matt Merhar).
40 - AnyEvent::Socket::tcp_bind/tcp_server would immediately unlink a unix
41 listening socket unless a guard is used. Change this so that no
42 cleanup will be performed unless a guard is used and document this more
43 clearly.
44 - make tcp_bind/tcp_server error messages more regular.
45 - work around latest perl upstream breakage - this time, perl5porters were
46 apparently bullied by a bogus CVE (CVE-2016-1238), and since distros
47 stupidly apply anything that has "security fix" stamped on it, it's likely
48 going to be a problem in practise (and working around it is trivial on
49 windows and unix).
50 - add TCP_FASTOPEN/MSG_FASTOPEN and MSG_NOSIGNAL/MSG_MORE/MSG_DONTWAIT
51 to constants.
52 - update warnings to common::sense 3.74 standards.
53
547.13 Sat Sep 17 04:31:49 CEST 2016
55 - Only call tlsext_host_name for non-empty common names (reported
56 by Maxime Soulé).
57 - log a (single) notice message if SNI is not supported.
58 - upgrade to UTS-46:9.0.0 draft and switch to non-transitional
59 behaviour, beating thunderbird, ie, edge, chrome and safari to it :)
60 (see also https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1218179)
61 - turns out the UTS-46 IDNA testcase failures were indeed bugs in the
62 testcases and the specification and not in the code - the post-9.0.0
63 unicode files have all known problems fixed, so finally the AnyEvent
64 IDNA implementation can pass the full IDNA testsuite - without needing
65 a single fix :)
66 - guarantee (and document) that condvar callbacks will be removed
67 on invocation - important to avoid circular references.
68
697.12 Wed Jan 27 19:12:26 CET 2016
70 - use common name as hostname for tls connects, if Net::SSLeay
71 supports SNI.
72 - fix documentation of tls_autostart read type in AnyEvent::Handle,
73 analyzed by Felix Ostmann.
74
757.11 Thu Jul 16 14:36:00 CEST 2015
76 - AnyEvent::Socket::parse_ipv6 could accept malformed ipv6
77 addresses (extra "::" at end and similar cases).
78 - add a more explicit warning to AnyEvent::Handle that it doesn't
79 work on files, people keep getting confused.
80 - new function AnyEvent::Socket::tcp_bind.
81 - new functions AnyEvent::fh_block and AnyEvent::fh_unblock.
82 - aligned ipv6 address formatting with RFC 5952 (by not shortening
83 a single :0: to ::).
84 - added stability canary support.
85
867.09 Sat May 2 16:38:53 CEST 2015
87 - AnyEvent::Debug called an internal function (AnyEvent::Log::ft)
88 that was renamed to AnyEvent::Log:format_time. uinder its old name
89 (analyzed by Michael Stovenour).
90 - update AnyEvent::DNS fallback resolver addresses:
91 seems google effectively killed most other free dns resolvers,
92 so remove them, but add cable and wireless (ecrc) since it was
93 stable for 20 years or so, official or not, and there should be
94 an alternative to google.
95 - perl5porters broke windows error codes in 5.20, and mapped
96 WSAEWOULDBLOCK on the (different) EWOULDBLOCK error code, and
97 WSAEINPROGRESS into the incompatible ERINPROGRESS code, probably
98 because they were so cool. They probably broke other error codes
99 for no reason, too, but I didn't care for checking, it's too
100 depressing. This version only works around the WSAEWOULDBLOCK
101 issue, because I don't have a nice way to work around the
102 WSAEINPROGRESS bug.
103
1047.08 Wed Dec 10 05:27:17 CET 2014
105 - work around a newly introduced bug in Socket 2.011 (an
106 errornous sun_length check) (analyzed by Maxime Soulé).
107 - AnyEvent::TLS didn't load (but refer to) AnyEvent::Socket
108 (analyzed by Ben Magistro).
109 - AnyEvent::Strict will now confess, not croak. This is in line with
110 it being a development/debugging tool.
111 - work around a number of libglib bugs (debug builds of libglib enforce
112 certain undocumented behaviour patterns such as not being able to
113 remove a child watch source after it has fired, which we will try
114 to emulate to avoid "criticals". what where they thinking...).
115 - mention json security issues in AnyEvent::Handle, now that Douglas
116 Crockford has foolishly and incompatibly changed JSON.
117 - changed default dns resolver "max_outstanding" value from 1 to 10,
118 the latter beinfg the intended value all along
119 (reported by Ilya Chesnokov).
120 - added new "AnyEvent::Impl::UV" interface module to the UV event lib
121 (written by Mike Lowell).
122
1237.07 Tue Dec 17 17:45:02 CET 2013
124 - the documentation for custom tls verify schemes was wrong. make it agree
125 with the code (reported by Maxime Soulé).
126 - added cbor read and write types to AnyEvent::Handle (using CBOR::XS).
127 - work around an API change in openssl that could cause wrong tls connection
128 aborts, likely on windows only (analyzed by sten).
129 - calling AnyEvent->now_update with AnyEvent::Impl::Perl caused an
130 endless loop (reported by Dietrich Rebmann).
131 - add tlsv1_1 and tlsv1_2 protocols to AnyEvent::TLS
132 (patch by Maxime Soulé).
133 - document AnyEvent::Impl::IOAsync::set_loop and
134 $AnyEvent::Impl::IOAsync::LOOP. Though only documented now, this
135 functionality has _always_ been available.
136 - force a toplevel domain name in t/81_hosts.t (analyzed by
137 David Jack Wange Olrik).
138 - document that AnyEvent::Log uses AnyEvent::IO.
139 - warn about AnyEvent::Filesys::Notify performance.
140 - praise the joys of AnyEvent::Fork::*.
141 - time for an =encoding directive.
142 - do no longer use JSON to create a default json coder, use
143 JSON::XS or JSON::PP directly.
144
1457.05 Wed Aug 21 10:38:08 CEST 2013
146 - uts46data.pl couldn't be found due to wrong naming of the file
147 (reported by Fulko Hew).
148 - handle lone \015's properly in AE::Handle's default line read
149 (reported by various people).
150 - untaint ip addresses found in /etc/hosts (patch by José Micó).
151 - the memleak fix in 7.03 caused resolving via /etc/hosts to always
152 fail on first use (reported and testcase by Andrew Whatson).
153 - expose AnyEvent::Log::format_time, and allow users to redefine it.
154 - expose AnyEvent::Log::default_format, and allow redefinition.
155 - expose AnyEvent::Log::fatal_exit, to allow redefinition.
156 - AnyEvent::Debug shell can now run coro shell commands, if available.
157 - t/63* tests were wrongly in MANIFEST.
158 - kernel.org's finger server went MIA, switch to freebsd.org and
159 icculus.org.
160 - clarify that IO::AIO and AnyEvent::AIO are needed for AnyEvent::IO
161 to function asynchronously (reported by Daniel Carosone).
162 - hard-disable $^W in most tests, it generates too much garbage output.
163 - use a (hopefully) more future-proof method to emulate common::sense.
164 - upgrade to UTS-46:6.2.0.
165 - switch to INSTLIB from INSTLIBDIR, as INSTLIBDIR was wrongly
166 documented. should not affect anything.
167
1687.04 Thu Nov 15 02:23:58 CET 2012
169 - debugging code left in.
170
1717.03 Thu Nov 15 02:16:11 CET 2012
172 - AnyEvent::Socket::inet_aton did not work when dns resolution was
173 used to find the addresses (analyzed and patch by Maxime Soulé).
174 - fix a memory leak in the /etc/hosts lookup code when hosts don't
175 resolve and are not in hosts (analyzed by sten).
176
1777.02 Tue Aug 14 04:27:58 CEST 2012
178 - AnyEvent::Util::run_cmd could block indefinitely (analyzed and test
179 program by Yorhel).
180 - verified that AnyEvent::Socket follows RFC5952.
181 - try to parse "ADDR#PORT" in addition to "ADDR PORT".
182
1837.01 Sun May 13 01:03:17 CEST 2012
184 - fail with EPROTO in AnyEvent::Handle wqhen TLS is requested but
185 not available, instead of throwing an exception.
186 - use File::Spec to get the tmpdir in t/*, to avoid needless
187 failures on (most, not mine :) windows boxes.
188 - new handle read types: tls_detect and tls_autostart.
189
1907.0 Fri Apr 13 06:33:30 CEST 2012
191 - child watchers are broken in POE 1.352 (also many earlier
192 versions) and there seems to be no way to work around it, as POE
193 itself is inherently racy. Document this regression and add a delay
194 in t/68_poe_03_child.t for the time being.
195 - new module AnyEvent::IO, that is a frontend to either a pure-perl
196 synchronous I/O implementation (AnyEvent::IO::Perl), or to the
197 asynchronous I/O extension IO::AIO (AnyEvent::IO::IOAIO).
198 - load /etc/hosts only when DNS has no answer.
199 - stat /etc/hosts on every access and reload it if it changed.
200 - load /etc/hosts via AnyEvent::IO - potentially asynchronous.
201 - fix a buggy croak in the dh parameter reading in AnyEvent::TLS.
202 - AnyEvent::Log log_to_file and log_to_path now use AnyEvent::IO. As
203 a side effect, they now use true appending as opposed to libc
204 appending, and the file might not have been opened when the function
205 returns.
206 - the default logging level was not properly documented in a variety of
207 places, this has hopefully been rectified.
208 - updated uts46data.pl for unicode 6.1.0.
209 - made log messages generated by AnyEvent submodules not
210 include the package name anymore, as it will be logged
211 by default already.
212 - upgrade to the trick used by common-sense 3.5 to work
213 around extra warning torture/breakage under perl 5.15.x.
214 - log messages by anyevent are now ucfirst, are usually full
215 sentences and do no longer include the package name.
216 - the storable read type would sometimes throw an exception instead
217 of causing EBADMSG (analyzed by Maxime Soulé).
218 - work around a bug in openssl 1.0.1 which enforces a minimum rsa
219 keysize (reported by Paul Howarth).
220 - documented Rocco fabricating statements about AnyEvent and me.
221
2226.14 Tue Jan 31 20:00:24 CET 2012
223 - AnyEvent::Impl::Tk was broken due to a mysterious "die" inside,
224 probably an editing mistake (reported by Darin McBride).
225
2266.13 Thu Jan 12 07:27:01 CET 2012
227 - AnyEvent::Util::fork_call checked for POSIX availability in the wrong way,
228 causing it to fail if POSIX wasn't loaded already (analysed by Rock Power).
229 - AnyEvent::Handle::push_read (line => did pass $1 directly, so
230 regex-matching inside the callback would change the parameter, despite
231 $1 being dynamically scoped per-block. this perl bug is now being
232 worked around (testcase by Cindy Wang).
233
2346.12 Mon Dec 12 13:21:10 CET 2011
235 - $! was clobbered by subsequent calls in tcp_connect, due to
236 the postpone not saving/restoring it (analyzed by Richard Garnish).
237
2386.11 Tue Nov 22 10:36:05 CET 2011
239 - Tk cannot create windows when tainted unless you set a title, so
240 set a dummy title for AnyEvent's dummy mainwindow. How dummy.
241 - escape any nonprintable/nonascii characters when stringifying
242 backtraces.
243 - log the reason loading an interface module fails to load at level debug.
244
2456.1 Tue Oct 4 19:44:30 CEST 2011
246 - INCOMPATIBLE CHANGE: the default log level is now "4" (error
247 and above), and some messages inside AnyEvent have been elevated
248 to higher log levels to print by default.
249 - AnyEvent::log, unlike AnyEvent::Log::log, did not always exit on fatal.
250 - work around yet another signal race bug, newly introduced by POE. My
251 how that module sucks.
252 - add google public ipv6 dns as fallback servers, so AE::DNS can finally
253 support ipv6-only operation even with defaults (also use ::1 instead
254 of 127.0.0.1).
255 - give better guidelines on how to chose a logging level.
256 - AnyEvent::Log can now cap (limit) log message priority by context.
257 - AE::log will now save and restore $! and $@, so callers don't have to.
258 - AE::Strict now checks that registered fds are still valid at regular
259 intervals.
260 - skip frequently called 'require' calls if the module appears loaded.
261 - increase signal latency test timer considerably for poor little osx,
262 which can't be bothered with basic posix functionality such as signal
263 delivery.
264 - mention some debugging aids in the tutorial.
265 - new env variable PERL_ANYEVENT_MAX_SIGNAL_LATENCY.
266 - private (%namespace) log contexts in PERL_ANYEVENT_LOG now have the name
267 of the context as title.
268 - AnyEvent::Strict would not restore read-write access to $_ when a callback
269 died - this is a user bug, but since AE::Strict exists to help dbeugging...
270 - detect the extremely evil IO::Async::Loop::AnyEvent module and refuse
271 to work with it - the author is well aware of the issues but refuses
272 to fix them. This extreme step has been taken because the module actively
273 attacks the goals of AnyEvent and makes it harder for module authors to use
274 AnyEvent.
275
2766.02 Fri Aug 26 20:08:31 CEST 2011
277 - log_to_syslog now accepts facility strings.
278 - log_to_syslog would not allow facilities - "$facility|$level"
279 *literally* means that string. sheesh.
280 - the CPAN parser got confused and thought we provide Sys::Syslog, try
281 to work around.
282 - renamed AnyEvent::Impl::FLTK2 to FLTK.
283
2846.01 Fri Aug 26 07:04:11 CEST 2011
285 - INCOMPATIBLE CHANGE: AnyEvent::DNS resource records now include
286 the TTL as fourth element - this affects ->resolve, ->request
287 and ->dns_unpack indirectly. Convenience functions such as
288 AnyEvent::DNS::{a,txt,mx,srv} are not affected, neither is
289 AnyEvent::Socket.
290 - INCOMPATIBLE CHANGE: backend authors now should not implement
291 one_event or loop, but instead the AnyEvent::CondVar::_wait and _poll
292 methods.
293 - INCOMPATIBLE CHANGE: verbosity levels have been redefined, see
294 AnyEvent (PERL_ANYEVENT_VERBOSE) and AnyEvent::Log for details.
295 - DEPRECIATION: please change
296 "use AnyEvent::Impl::Perl" to "use AnyEvent::Loop" and
297 "AnyEvent::Impl::Perl::loop" to "AnyEvent::Loop::run"
298 in your programs, for future compatibility.
299 - *blush* idle watcher emulation was borked.
300 - AnyEvent::Strict now checks the AE::xxx functions as well.
301 - querying too long domain names would barf deep inside AnyEvent::DNS - since
302 this is hard to avoid for applications, AnyEvent:.DNS::request now checks for
303 for too long domain names explicitly and passes an undef to the callback
304 instead (reported by James Bromberger).
305 - make AnyEvent::Util more robust against EINTR (analyzed by Andrew Suffield).
306 - new functions: AnyEvent::postpone, AnyEvent::log.
307 - new module: AnyEvent::Log, for simple logging needs.
308 - new env variable, PERL_ANYEVENT_LOG, for fine-grained logging config.
309 - new env variable, PERL_ANYEVENT_DEBUG_SHELL, to automatically start
310 a debug shell.
311 - new env variable, PERL_ANYEVENT_DEBUG_WRAP, to automatically enable
312 watcher instrumentation/wrapping (see AnyEvent::Debug::wrap).
313 - new env variable, PERL_ANYEVENT_HOSTS, to override the place where
314 /etc/hosts can be found.
315 - an empty PERL_ANYEVENT_RESOLV_CONF now selects the default
316 configuration.
317 - env variables can now be specified using AE_xyz instead of
318 PERL_ANYEVENT_xyz, subject to some rules.
319 - lots of new AnyEvent::Debug functionality.
320 - AnyEvent::Strict now checks for modifications of $_ by the callback
321 (by setting it to readonly while executing the callback, if possible).
322 - IO::Async sometimes cancels the wrong timer when you call cancel_timer.
323 Invest extra overhead to work around this peculiar behaviour.
324 - split the pure perl backend into a loop module and an impl
325 module (AnyEvent::Loop and AnyEvent::Impl::Perl).
326 - some read types (regex, netstring, json, storable) could
327 errornously keep an AE::Handle object alive on their own
328 (reported by Mohammad Toossi).
329 - AnyEvent::Socket::resolve_sockaddr and all functions using it now
330 supports /etc/hosts overrides.
331 - add more workarounds around child watcher bugs in IO::Async
332 and (newly introduced) in POE.
333 - use glib child watchers and try to work around its limitations,
334 if possible (based on a patch by Kevin Ryde).
335 - add support for FLTK (fltk2), via AnyEvent::Impl::FLTK2.
336 - many read types in AnyEvent::Handle would malfunction during
337 transitions to TLS because of a "delete $self->{rbuf}".
338 (reported by Gerald Galster).
339 - improve condvar blocking wait performance (probably only noticable
340 with faster backends), also make it easier for event loops that
341 do not support blocking waits.
342 - PERL_ANYEVENT_MODEL now also allows full module names, although
343 the usefulness of this feature is not yet clear.
344 - add tests for all supported event loops, conditional on PERL_ANYEVENT_LOOP_TESTS.
345 - add t/80_ssltext.t.
346 - no longer use AUTOLOAD for the initial loading (for no very good reason).
347 - tcp_server now tries to unlink unix domain sockets when it gets destroyed.
348 - do not run event loop detection multiple times when programs call their cached
349 copies of AnyEvent::detect.
350 - parse_hostport now accepts absolute paths als unix domain sockets.
351 - suppress the idiotic warning inside POE by patching the POE::Kernel
352 run flags instead of asking the user to jump through contortions.
353 - add Task::Weaken as dependency (as recommends only at this time).
354 - replace PF_UNSPEC by 0, for good old minix.
355
3566.0 (not officially released, but was on CPAN for about 15 minutes :/)
357
3585.34 Thu May 12 09:59:41 CEST 2011
359 - AE::TLS didn't support both cert_file and key at the same time,
360 due to some copy&paste bug (reported and analyzed by vti).
361 - improve AE::Handle timeout documentation slightly.
362
3635.33 Mon Feb 7 21:51:41 CET 2011
364 - never appeared on CPAN, for unknown reasons.
365 - AnyEvent::Handle on_connect_error - do not try to destroy a handle
366 object when it's already gone (analyzed by Ryan Bullock).
367 - update idna algorithm(s) to UTS#46 version 6.0.0.
368 - preserve trailing dot in idn_to_ascii - testsuite says to preserve,
369 uts46 says it's an error, and testsuite makes more sense.
370 - remove leading dots in idn_to_ascii - testsuite says to remove,
371 uts46 says it's an error, and testsuite makes more sense.
372 - fixed a bug in idn ignored character processing.
373 - passes the uts46 6.0.0 testsuite except for three cases which
374 apparently are bugs in the testsuite itself.
375 - passes the uts46 6.0.1 testsuite except for eleven cases which
376 apparently are bugs in the testsuite itself.
377
3785.31 Sun Jan 23 11:49:19 CET 2011
379 - work around a POE bug where POE would first poll for new events and
380 invoke handlers BEFORE handling the message queue.
381 - fix parsing of "domain" statement in resolv.conf (Johannes Plunien).
382 - stop_read now does just that in TLS mode. see its
383 documentation for caveats.
384 - update to common::sense 3.4 warning set (some warnings in perl impose
385 an arbitrary 32kb limit on regex matches, which affects
386 AnyEvent::Handle).
387 - AE::Handle had a broken rbuf_max method and missing wbuf_max method.
388 - new experimental AE::Handle::resettls method.
389
3905.3 Fri Dec 31 05:48:13 CET 2010
391 - major IOAsync patch by Paul Evans - 0.33 is required, as the major
392 issues with IO::Async have been solved in that version, including
393 the availabilty of a default loop!
394 - implement new wbuf_max parameter for AnyEvent::Handle.
395 - added Cocoa::EventLoop backend by Daisuke Murase.
396 - the default testsuite now honors PERL_ANYEVENT_MODEL (Paul Evans).
397 - clarify handle on_prepare documentation.
398 - set CLOEXEC flag on parent-side fd's in AnyEvent::Util::run_cmd,
399 to avoid leaking them to any child processes.
400 - try to force files into the arch-dependend lib directory, for the
401 half-"turly obsessive compulsive person"(s) that depend on it.
402
4035.29 Sun Dec 5 10:49:21 CET 2010
404 - convert EV backend to EV 4.00 API (so better upgrade EV too).
405 - AE::Handle: implement dynamic read_size adjustment, add
406 max_read_size parameter, reduce default read_size to 2048.
407 - add some FAQ entries for servers and/or on_eof vs. on_error.
408 - work around OS bugs (cygwin again) when lingering in AE::Handle.
409 - reduce memory usage slightly when connect was used in AE::Handle.
410 - wrok around more segfaults in Tk.
411 - document tls_ctx => undef as valid.
412 - detect WNOHANG value at compiletime.
413 - include some probably linux-only support for building AnyEvent
414 as part of the perl core.
415 - improve compatibility of t/08_idna.t to perl 5.8.
416 - make AnyEvent::Strict truly optional (in case somebody builds a
417 minimal perl...).
418
4195.28 Wed Oct 13 04:14:23 CEST 2010
420 - due to a glitch, AnyEvent's internal getprotobyname wasn't
421 actually used in tcp_server.
422 - implement AnyEvent::CondVar->new method, which was documented but
423 missing.
424 - support autoloading of read types in unshift_read.
425 - AnyEvent::Strict: do the test for invalid fh arguments differently,
426 resulting in more informative error messages.
427 - new AnyEvent::FAQ manpage.
428 - clarify that you can actually call push_read etc. in on_read.
429 - put keys and certs in /tmp, not into the current directory,
430 and document this in the SECURITY CONSIDERATIONS sections
431 of AnyEvent::TLS.
432 - support ";" as resolv.conf comment character in AnyEvent::DNS, as
433 requested by Ron Isaacson.
434 - document $AnyEvent::DNS::RESOLVER variable.
435 - incorporated major typo patches by Abhijit Menon-Sen.
436 - AnyEvent::Handle now croaks when negative timeouts are passed.
437 - add a shitload of TCP_xxx sockopt name constants to AnyEvent::Util,
438 undocumented, but who knows when they might come in handy.
439
4405.271 Tue Jun 8 12:05:46 CEST 2010
441 - backport to perl 5.8.x.
442
4435.27 Sun Jun 6 12:12:05 CEST 2010
444 - postpone differently in AnyEvent::Socket now, as
445 when not, canceling the connection attempt might fail
446 (found by Felix Antonius Wilhelm Ostmann).
447 - explicitly check for non-stream sockets in AE::Handle, too many
448 clueless people fell into the trap of this somehow working.
449 - simplified and reworked the "OTHER MODULES" section.
450 - better/more condvar examples.
451
4525.261 Wed Apr 28 16:13:36 CEST 2010
453 - AF_INET6 was not properly used from Socket6 during configuration
454 time (found by Andy Grundman).
455
4565.26 Mon Apr 12 04:49:35 CEST 2010
457 - don't generate spurious readyness notifications when select
458 returns EINTR in the pure perl backend (analysed and testcase
459 by Bas Denissen).
460 - give same examples in SYNOPSIS sections of AnyEvent and AE.
461 - provider faster implementations for AE::time/now/now_update for
462 EV and Perl backends.
463 - provide faster AE::cv and AE::time implementations for all
464 backends.
465 - no longer support lower/mixed-case signal names (this was
466 never documented nor universally supported).
467 - some more memory µ-optimisations, and somewhat less messy
468 code to cope with both AnyEvent and AE APIs.
469
4705.251 Sat Mar 13 00:58:21 CET 2010
471 - make test failed if it was run before make install on perl <=
472 5.8.8, and older versions of perl make our live very difficult,
473 so write constants.pl during Makefile.PL time.
474
4755.25 Sat Mar 13 00:23:14 CET 2010
476 - fix a race condition in AnyEvent::Handle that would cause
477 a "bio_read: unsupported method" error (in _another_
478 ssl connection) after user code threw an exception.
479 - added AnyEvent::Handle->destroyed method.
480 - speed up AnyEvent::Socket::format_address and ::format_ipv6.
481 - the AnyEvent::Util::fh_nonblocking function worked only
482 by lucky accident on win32.
483 - smaller and faster AnyEvent::Util::fh_nonblocking.
484 - when the (required!) Time::HiRes module is missing, AnyEvent
485 did not fall back to built-in time properly.
486 - do not load Fcntl at runtime, saving memory and loading time.
487 - precompile a number of constants and use them instead of runtime
488 detection and eval.
489 - free detection code after detection and similar memory optimisations.
490 - Perl backend timer interval best effort drift has been improved
491 (same algorithm as EV).
492 - update unicode idna mapping table.
493
4945.24 Tue Jan 5 11:39:43 CET 2010
495 - cygwin never reports errors from failed connects. 1.5 just gives
496 you continous readyness and EAGAIN, 1.7 is even more broken and
497 just hangs. work around both issues in a cygwin-specific hack.
498 - improve idle watcher documentation slightly.
499
5005.23 Sun Dec 20 23:48:00 CET 2009
501 - support IDNs in resolve_sockaddr, and therefore in tcp_connect.
502 - implement punycode_encode/decode, idn_nameprep,
503 idn_to_ascii and idn_to_unicode operations in AnyEvent::Util.
504 - provide $AE::VERSION.
505 - removed traces of "no strict 'refs'".
506
5075.22 Sat Dec 5 03:51:13 CET 2009
508 - downgrade-or-fail in AnyEvent::Handle::push_write, to
509 diagnose encoding failures earlier and more succinctly.
510 (this works around bugs in perl, throwing away encoding info
511 when passing scalar data to extensions).
512 - add more examples to AnyEvent::Socket manpage.
513 - upgrade internal warning set to the same as common::sense 2.03.
514 - use pack "n/a*" for pre-5.8.9 perl compatibility in AnyEvent::DNS
515 (John Beppu).
516 - AnyEvent::Socket::inet_aton now properly supports ipv6, as documented.
517 - add google public dns servers to fallback server set and make sure
518 we load-balance properly between the three sets. also add all
519 fallback dns servers, not just a random one, to each dns config.
520
5215.21 Thu Nov 19 02:48:47 CET 2009
522 - fix a problem where socket constants were called with parameters
523 (spotted by David Friedland).
524 - fork_call never use'd POSIX (reported by Daisuke Maki).
525 - improve perl 5.6 compatibility further (but it still won't work
526 unless you rip out everything but the core).
527 - prefer Net::DNS::Resolver over ipconfig, if installed, on win32.
528 uses 10MB of RAM, but doesn't open a console window. *sigh*.
529
5305.202 Wed Oct 14 22:35:44 CEST 2009
531 - AnyEvent::DNS would unexpectedly clobber $_ under windows
532 (analysed by Matthias Waldorf).
533 - AnyEvent::Handle::run_cmd can now pass the PID of the
534 newly-created process, which is much less useful than it might
535 sound (based on patch by Yann Kerherve).
536
5375.201 Tue Sep 29 12:09:25 CEST 2009
538 - AnyEvent:Handle::on_starttls/on_stoptls methods were broken
539 (reported by Torsten Foertsch).
540 - common::sense 2.0 could cause tcp_server to throw an exception
541 (analysed by elmex).
542
5435.2 Mon Sep 14 07:04:49 CEST 2009
544 - INCOMPATIBLE CHANGE: do no longer support register_read_type
545 and register_write_type in AnyEvent::Handle, instead support
546 package names (the facility was mostly abused).
547 - implement "packagename-as-read/write type" support in
548 AnyEvent::Handle.
549 - AnyEvent::Handle: new options "keepalive" and "oobinline".
550 - oobinline set by default to avoid security issues.
551 - the pure-perl event loop backend wrongly detected times() fallback
552 support (spotted by Pavel Boldin).
553
5545.12 Tue Sep 1 20:26:50 CEST 2009
555 - be more lenient when parsing resolv.conf files, as some people
556 use hashmarks as comment indicator inside directives (reported
557 by Michael S. Fischer).
558 - use same set of warnings as common::sense 2.0.
559 - fix a potential 32 bit overflow issue due to perl having problems
560 with large hex constants in the Perl backend.
561 - do not use the slower 5.6 version fo the enc_name code in AnyEvent::DNS
562 by default.
563 - fix some prototypes.
564 - (optionally) require Async::Interrupt 1.02.
565 - replace opendns fallbacks by verizon/level3 public dns servers.
566
5675.112 Fri Aug 21 13:59:04 CEST 2009
568 - AnyEvent::Handle could cause hard crashes in Net::SSLeay when
569 using starttls with an illegal/uncreatable tls context.
570 - port to broken win32 perls.
571
5725.111 Sun Aug 16 18:44:36 CEST 2009
573 - perl errornously requires sockaddr_un structures returned by the
574 kernel to have a specific length. work around this bug by padding
575 sockaddr_un structures (found to fail on OS X, as perl only uses
576 the correct code for GNU/Linux, but likely to fail on other
577 OSes as well).
578
5795.11 Wed Aug 12 17:49:37 CEST 2009
580 - fixed a bug in run_cmd with input from filename.
581 - create a json coder object when none is given in write direction
582 to reduce dependency on JSON.
583
5845.1 Tue Aug 11 03:17:32 CEST 2009
585 - tcp_connect now reports the correct error in $!, not an unrelated
586 one (was broken since 4.91).
587 - AE::Handle did not properly clear rtimeout/wtimeout watchers
588 when retrying a tcp_connect.
589 - new functions: AnyEvent::Util::run_cmd and close_all_fds_except.
590 - fixed wrong documentation in AE::Socket.
591
5925.01 Mon Aug 10 03:16:32 CEST 2009
593 - last release broke EV child watchers :/.
594
5955.0 Sun Aug 9 17:32:09 CEST 2009
596 - officially introduce and document the AE API.
597 - lowering the timeout at runtime did not have immediate effect
598 in AnyEvent::Handle.
599 - AE::Handle now has separate and independent read and write timeout
600 settings.
601 - probe for Guard module when AnyEvent::Util is loaded, not at
602 runtime (Event doesn't like eval "use" from callbacks, and it avoids
603 exporting the probe function).
604 - Impl::IOAsync's io watchers did not use the filehandle emulation
605 code to work around it's watcher limits.
606 - work around IO::Async's problems with overloaded objects.
607 - try to disable wearnings inside IO::Async, it's just too buggy.
608 - do no longer use Event by default, only EV or Perl, Event is too buggy.
609 - hackishly provide fast AE:: interface when EV or Perl is the backend.
610 - inherit VERSION from AnyEvent::VERSION in most modules.
611
6124.91 Thu Aug 6 15:42:45 CEST 2009
613 - AE::Handle::starttls could get out of sync when the read buffer
614 already contains some TLS handshake.
615 - AE::Handle did not properly free the TLS session, causing bigger
616 memory leaks in Net::SSLeay than expected (reported by toaster).
617 - AE::Socket::tcp_connect will now artificially delay invoking
618 the callback to avoid returning after invoking the callback.
619 - convert many internal watcher uses to AE API.
620
6214.9 Sat Aug 1 11:07:01 CEST 2009
622 - Glib silently fails when registering a timeout with
623 a negative value, so avoid that.
624 - call condvar callback immediately when it is set
625 after the condition is already signalled.
626 - check rbuf_max condition only after trying to consume
627 data.
628 - normalise signal numbers to names when using the ae's
629 signal handling, but do not document this (yet).
630 - pure perl signal emulation did not properly set nonblocking
631 mode on the signal pipe on win32 (this is unlikely to have caused
632 any issues).
633 - new module: AnyEvent::Debug.
634 - AnyEvent::Strict now checks that a signal was specified
635 by name (not name or number).
636 - reduce memory footprint in typical cases by ~50kb by
637 only compiling signal code when necessary.
638 - add AnyEvent::Handle->rbuf_max.
639 - grab the AE namespace for future new API, implement stubs for
640 said future/alternative API.
641 - new function: AnyEvent::Socket::format_hostport.
642
6434.881 Tue Jul 28 12:51:53 CEST 2009
644 - work around a bug in local in pre-5.10 perls, causing
645 AnyEvent::Handle to recurse when it should not
646 (analysed by elmex).
647
6484.88 Tue Jul 28 04:04:37 CEST 2009
649 - re-bless the handle into a dummy package after calling
650 AnyEvent::Handle::destroy, so the user does not need to check
651 for errors after every push_write etc.
652 - do not attempt to run t/02_signals.t on obviously broken
653 platforms.
654
6554.87 Sun Jul 26 02:06:16 CEST 2009
656 - do not attempt to linger when there is no longer a valid fh.
657 - enforce tls mode to be either accept or connect, do not simply
658 segfault in Net::SSLeay.
659 - AnyEvent::Handle can now call tcp_connect itself (new parameters
660 connect, on_prepare, on_connect and on_connect_error). Updated
661 tutorial accordingly.
662 - add AnyEvent::Impl::Irssi backend.
663
6644.86 Mon Jul 20 23:52:29 CEST 2009
665 - since the verbose warning is not enough, explicitly document
666 that versions before 1.33 of Net::SSLeay are not secure.
667 - work around signal handling races in Event and (...) Event::Lib.
668 - try to align signal-race timer to full-second boundaries.
669 - work around Tk not liking negative timeouts.
670 - don't complain of different grades of environmental unfriendlyness
671 in IO::Async.
672
6734.85 Sat Jul 18 06:16:14 CEST 2009
674 - nail the signal race problem in perl once and for all
675 (see $AnyEvent::MAX_SIGNAL_LATENCY).
676 - take advantage of Async::Interrupt if it is available.
677 - load Time::HiRes and Guard modules on demand only.
678 - add optional/recommended modules section to AnyEvent
679 documentation.
680 - reduce memory usage considerably (and reduce startup penalty)
681 by not using "strict", "warnings" and "overload" modules.
682 - work around buggy windows/openbsd perls and provide EBADMSG
683 and EPROTO ourselves when missing.
684 - improve perl 5.6 compatibility of the core event loop.
685 - made Net::SSLeay version 1.33 a soft requirement.
686
6874.83 Fri Jul 17 16:56:26 CEST 2009
688 - implement AnyEvent::Socket::getprotobyname.
689 - AnyEvent::CondVar's will now detect recursive blocking
690 waits and will croak, as too many people fall into
691 this trap.
692 - AnyEvent::Handle will now call ->destroy on itself after
693 executing the on_error callback, instead of doing some
694 half-baked internal shutdown, for fatal errors.
695 - clarify on_eof behaviour w.r.t. the read queue and
696 on_read callbacks.
697 - ignore some possible spurious wake-ups in tcp_connect.
698
6994.82 Sat Jul 11 00:34:55 CEST 2009
700 - POE and Event backends didn't accept some callable objects as
701 callbacks.
702 - use Config module instead of POSIX module to detect signal names
703 in AnyEvent::Strict and AnyEvent::Impl::EventLib, as the POSIX
704 module doesn't even have all POSIX signals :/.
705 - use more workarounds around the many refcnt/corruption bugs in
706 Event::Lib.
707 - work around a race condition in perl's select, causing t/03_child.t
708 to rarely fail.
709
7104.81 Thu Jul 9 10:30:30 CEST 2009
711 - AnyEvent::Handle didn't properly diagnose write errors
712 (it expected -1 from syswrite, how lame... :).
713 - support file descriptors in addition to file handles
714 in AnyEvent->io.
715 - new env variables: PERL_ANYEVENT_RESOLV_CONF,
716 PERL_ANYEVENT_MAX_OUTSTANDING_DNS, PERL_ANYEVENT_CA_FILE
717 and PERL_ANYEVENT_CA_PATH.
718 - provide a sensible synopsis section for AnyEvent::TLS.
719 - add a "supported backends" section to the manpage.
720 - added simple io watcher test to testsuite, using a
721 portable_socketpair.
722 - tried to improve the stability of the Event::Lib backend,
723 YMMV.
724
7254.8 Mon Jul 6 23:45:16 CEST 2009
726 - AnyEvent::DNS did not properly follow CNAME records with
727 uppercase targets.
728 - AnyEvent::DNS would errornously return AAAA records
729 with v4 mapped addresses (a faulty record) as ipv4 addresses,
730 causing AnyEvent::Socket to throw an exception.
731 - added new module AnyEvent::TLS for easier SSL/TLS context
732 creation, with many options including hostname verification,
733 secure default configuration, lots of documentation and,
734 predefined diffie-hellman keys for perfect forward security
735 and much more. get it while it's still fresh!
736 - use AnyEvent::TLS in AnyEvent::Handle for context management.
737 - load AnyEvent::Handle only on demand in AnyEvent::DNS,
738 so AnyEvent::Socket users have smaller memory footprint
739 in the common case.
740 - add AnyEvent::Handle->push_shutdown method.
741 - add an additional error message parameter to AnyEvent::Handle's
742 on_error callback (for TLS, $! is still available).
743 - add AnyEvent::Handle on_starttls/on_stoptls callbacks.
744 - make AnyEvent::Handle more robust against early connection
745 failures (during new), and return C<undef> in that case
746 from the constructor.
747 - AnyEvent::Handle will now try to load only JSON::XS first,
748 then fall back to JSON.
749 - format_ipv4/format_ipv6 are now exported by default, for symmetry,
750 and because it was documented that way.
751
7524.451 Fri Jul 3 00:28:58 CEST 2009
753 - do not clear rbuf when shutting down an AnyEvent::Handle
754 object - doing so breaks AnyEvent::HTTP.
755
7564.45 Mon Jun 29 22:59:26 CEST 2009
757 - a write error could cause AnyEvent::Handle to create
758 an I/O watcher with an undefined $fh.
759 - special-case mapped ipv4 addresses in both
760 AnyEvent::Socket::format_address and parse_address,
761 to treat them just like ipv4 addresses.
762 - updated and overhauled the AnyEvent::Intro doc.
763 - implement AnyEvent::Socket::format_ipv4/ipv6.
764 - slightly speed up portable_pipe/socketpair.
765 - expand condvar begin/end documentation.
766
7674.42 Fri Jun 26 08:32:18 CEST 2009
768 - preliminary and neccesarily incomplete support for IO::Async.
769 - reset SIGCHLD to DEFAULT when AnyEvent is loaded, in
770 case it was set to IGNORE, to ensure we can catch child statuses
771 even when the calling env acts stupidly.
772 - updated benchmarks with IO::Async, which performs very well.
773
7744.412 Wed Jun 24 01:35:57 CEST 2009
775 - support an "untaint" attribute for AnyEvent::DNS
776 and set it on the default resolver.
777 - implement and document AnyEvent::Impl::Perl::loop.
778 - remove all anyevent-env variables from %ENV
779 when running in tainted mode.
780 - mention and extend the IO::Lambda benchmark.
781
7824.411 Sun Jun 7 18:48:02 CEST 2009
783 - do not try to use F_SETFD on windows.
784
7854.41 Thu May 14 06:40:11 CEST 2009
786 - work around issues in older perls (5.8.0?) when
787 a signal handler is deleted from the %SIG hash.
788 - use POSIX::_exit in child test, to avoid running
789 destructors.
790 - speed up CHLD handling by relying on SIGCHLD being
791 synchronously delivered, even when we roll our own
792 implementation.
793 - AnyEvent::DNS: add the "dname" resource record name
794 for cosmetic reasons.
795
7964.4 Sun Apr 26 20:12:33 CEST 2009
797 - implemented idle watchers, where applicable.
798 - AnyEvent->time died when Event backend was in use.
799 - fix a memleak in the Tk backend.
800 - sped up Tk timer handling.
801 - clip negative "after" values to 0 in AnyEvent::Impl::Event
802 to avoid spamming out warning messages.
803 - fix Qt timers without interval.
804 - avoid Qt zero-timeout special case, in old libqt's.
805
8064.352 Mon Apr 20 16:31:11 CEST 2009
807 - fix AnyEvent::Strict error messages for child watchers.
808 - fix/update Makefile.PL "recommends" versions.
809 - add AnyEvent->now_update.
810
8114.351 Sat Apr 11 07:56:14 CEST 2009
812 - actually make the signal pipe work under win32.
813 - localise $! in signal handler to avoid changing $!, although
814 perl itself does not seem to save/restore errno either.
815 - set the cloexec flag on the signal pipe (normally set by perl too).
816
8174.35 Fri Mar 27 11:48:20 CET 2009
818 - event models relying on AnyEvent's signal watcher emulation did
819 invoke the callback asynchronously, contradicting documentation
820 and causing signals to get lost (this includes AnyEvent's own
821 event loop). AnyEvent now uses the standard pipe trick to make
822 callback execution synchronous to the event loop.
823 - AnyEvent::Handle didn't free TLS context data on DESTROY
824 (patch by Pavel Shaydo).
825 - work around the ever-incompatibly-changing API of MakeMaker.
826 - document that changing global variables without restoring them
827 is a bad idea in Perl (noted by Adam Rosenstein).
828 - AnyEvent::Strict now barfs if ->io is passed a file.
829
8304.34 Thu Feb 12 18:32:45 CET 2009
831 - separately buffer TLS read data, as otherwise the read queue could
832 deadlock as receiving data is not expected while draining the
833 read queue (which cna only happen with TLS).
834 - raise EBADMSG error on JSON decoding errors.
835 - fix some minor manpage bugs (reported by Maximilian Gaß).
836 - speed up select bitmask parsing quite a bit in the pure perl
837 backend.
838 - use CORE::select instead of just select in AnyEvent::Impl::Perl.
839
8404.331 Tue Jan 6 21:07:25 CET 2009
841 - socketpair fails on many vista machines because vista has
842 completely broken accept/getpeername and getsockname functions,
843 so we provide our own socketpair emulation that kind of works
844 (AnyEvent::Util::portable_pipe).
845 - new function: AnyEvent::Util::portable_socketpair.
846 - take advantage of the Guard module if it exists.
847
8484.33 Fri Nov 21 02:35:40 CET 2008
849 - AnyEvent::Strict did errornously flag a fileno of 0 as
850 illegal.
851 - reduce memory usage and slightly speed up the pure perl backend
852 by only storing the file descriptor, not the file handle.
853 - add missing autocork method to AnyEvent::Handle (reported
854 by Adam Rosenstein).
855 - AnyEvent::DNS->resolve errornously documented an $rcode result
856 argument, but there isn't (spotted by Henrik Krohns).
857 - the naked truth about Tk - it's basically unmaintained.
858
8594.32 Mon Nov 3 22:46:32 CET 2008
860 - fix AnyEvent::Socket::resolve_sockaddr to properly support
861 unix sockets again and choose a proper default for
862 the socket type.
863 - fix call to resolve_sockaddr in tcp_connect.
864
8654.31 Thu Oct 30 04:41:48 CET 2008
866 - implemented AnyEvent::Handle->destroy method.
867 - hint about unexpected effects in TLS mode.
868 - speed up AnyEvent::Impl::Perl by using more arrays
869 instead of hashes without the slightest loss of readability :)
870 - work around a perl argument refcounting bug.
871 - with some perl patches applied, AnyEvent now seems leak-free.
872
8734.3 Fri Oct 3 09:18:43 CEST 2008
874 - AnyEvent will now install a no-op signal handler for SIGPIPE,
875 unless one has been installed already.
876 - warn about not loaidng AnyEvent::Impl::POE early enough
877 (patch by Adam Rosenstein).
878 - fixed a great number of bugs and corner cases in AnyEvent::Handle.
879 - fix a bug in where in SSL connect mode, the
880 client would first wait for some data by the server and
881 otherwise hang. (reported and analysed in an absolutely
882 exemplary manner by Adam Rosenstein).
883 - fix a bug in where SSL EOF would not be treated
884 as stream EOF, putting the connection into a hung state.
885 (reported and analysed in an absolutely exemplary manner by Adam
886 Rosenstein).
887 - fix a potential segfault when the TLS context
888 would go missing in a read callback (e.g. due to stoptls) -
889 Net::SSLeay of course makes no type checking whatsoever.
890 - AnyEvent::Handle will not stop the read watcher in TLS mode.
891 - AnyEvent::Handle->stoptls will send a TLS close notify
892 instead of simply destroying the stream now.
893 - fix a bug where large blocks of data written in TLS mode
894 would not be sent unless triggered by receives.
895 - on_drain will now take the tls write buffer into account.
896 - SSL operations have been streamlined a bit and should be faster
897 now, more to come, though.
898 - added a FAQ section, will document nontrivial issues in there.
899
9004.234 Mon Sep 29 04:08:13 CEST 2008
901 - fix child watcher documentation: only child exits will be reported,
902 no trace events.
903 - mention SIGPIPE in AnyEvent::Handle.
904 - perl backend will now use POSIX::times as monotonic clock
905 when available and the monotonic clock option is not.
906 - run even without Time::HiRes in some cases now, but do not
907 provide sub-second accuracy (all *supported* perl versions have
908 Time::HiRes).
909
9104.233 Fri Aug 22 01:48:05 CEST 2008
911 - fix a bug in the testsuite, causing a hang.
912 - clarified lots of AnyEvent::Handle constructor arguments.
913
9144.232 Thu Aug 21 20:44:25 CEST 2008
915 - fix a bug in AnyEvent::Handle that could cause two fatal error
916 callbacks on EOF, which caused AnyEvent::HTTP to signal success twice
917 (testcase by Leon Brocard).
918 - clarified on_eof/on_error documentation a bit.
919
9204.231 Tue Jul 29 13:12:15 CEST 2008
921 - remove some debugging code left in AnyEvent::Util::fork_call
922 (and no, it's impossible to implement with the broken windows
923 perls without resource leaks or worse).
924
9254.23 Tue Jul 29 12:19:59 CEST 2008
926 - document the first parameter passed to condvar callbacks to be
927 the callback.
928 - add AnyEvent::Socket::{ntoa,aton} aliases.
929 - optimize the AE::Handle->push_read (line) for the default
930 eol marker.
931 - optimize push_read (packstring|storable) for small packets.
932 - invoke on_error callback when no on_eof callback is set.
933 - fix a bug in push_read (storable) of unknown impact.
934
9354.22 Sun Jul 20 16:34:13 CEST 2008
936 - new function AnyEvent::Socket::parse_hostport.
937 - as the bulkheads at microsoft can't even get getprotobyname reliably
938 working on their shitty fucking broken os we need to hardcode
939 some common protocol numbers in AnyEvent::Socket. How can
940 people even bother with such a pile of shit as windows.
941
9424.21 Thu Jul 17 14:40:05 CEST 2008
943 - INCOMPATIBLE CHANGE: AnyEvent::Util::fork_call now has a prototype
944 which is incompatible to previous invocation syntax.
945 - work around more windows perl bugs in fork_call. I cannot imagine
946 why anybody would bother implementing fork in such an obviously
947 unusable way.
948 - avoid calling $do_retry if the request has already finished in
949 AnyEvent::DNS, thus avoiding an exception (reported by Anatoly
950 K. Sharifulin).
951
9524.2 Sat Jul 12 22:42:11 CEST 2008
953 - support an "interval" argument for repeating timers.
954 - fix a bug in the pure perl event loop that caused timers to
955 be delayed under some circumstances.
956 - implement optional argument checking via PERL_ANYEVENT_STRICT.
957 - not importing anything from Event causes it to malfunction
958 and not use Time::HiRes, work around this bug.
959 - more bug workarounds against the endlessly broken Tk module,
960 seems to work now on 32 bit machines, but less so on 64 bit.
961 - minor optimisations applied to most backends.
962
9634.161 Fri Jul 4 14:24:48 CEST 2008
964 - fixed the t/handle/02_write.t, it read after write, with the
965 assumption that all data could be written before read
966 (reported by Jim Razmus).
967
9684.160 Thu Jul 3 04:02:21 CEST 2008
969 - re-registering signal watchers after unregistering one did
970 not work if a backend falls back on AnyEvent's default
971 implementation (also affected child watchers).
972 - new AnyEvent::Handle options: autocork and no_delay.
973
9744.152 Sun Jun 22 14:15:44 CEST 2008
975 - allow for 32-bit perls that implement shifts differently
976 on different architectures in parse_ipv4 (reported and
977 analysed by Keiichi DAIBA).
978
9794.151 Fri Jun 6 17:34:24 CEST 2008
980 - make sure specifying _only_ on_read and never pushing reads
981 works.
982
9834.15 Fri Jun 6 13:00:46 CEST 2008
984 - the pure perl backend would keep some watchers alive when more than
985 one watcher was registered for the same fd.
986 - new "packstring" and "storable" read and write types
987 for AnyEvent::Handle.
988 - allow on_eof handler to be called after on_error with EPIPE returns.
989 - do not immediately call on_read callback in handle constructor.
990
9914.14 Thu Jun 5 20:29:31 CEST 2008
992 - Fixed a bug in DNS SRV priority sorting.
993 - AnyEvent::Util::guard now reports runtime errors while
994 executing the guard block as warnings.
995 - handle 0-byte-reads just before EOF correctly in AnyEvent::Handle.
996
9974.13 Thu Jun 5 00:47:59 CEST 2008
998 - AnyEvent::DNS only followed cname chains with length 2,
999 contrary to documentation. bumped it up to 10, thanks to
1000 microsoft, the current broken-dns-config-king.
1001 - AnyEvent::DNS didn't check for socket return status
1002 but instead relied on perl not creating filehandles in that
1003 case - too bad it gives you a bogus file handle (reported
1004 and analysed by Vladimir Timofeev).
1005 - fix queue management logic in AnyEvent::Handle:
1006 when on_read was registered, the queue was empty
1007 and no progress could be made AnyEvent::Handle would
1008 enter an endless loop.
1009 - correctly start reading again when the handle became
1010 busy again after idling.
1011 - correctly treat tls shut-downs as EOF condition
1012 (for the time being, would be nice to have a callback for that).
1013 - correctly call eof callback under all conditions
1014 (hopefully).
1015 - the timeout callback did not expect that $self can go
1016 away any time.
1017
10184.12 Tue Jun 3 10:58:04 CEST 2008
1019 - include AnyEvent::Intro, a tutorial for anyevent,
1020 anyevent::socket and anyevent::handle.
1021 - allow more options in on_error.
1022
