1Revision history for Perl extension Coro. 1Revision history for Perl extension Coro.

3TODO: better (earlier) error messages on broken transfer's 3TODO: localise SIG{__DIE__} and/or __WARN__
4TODO: destroy gets only called on cancel: fix(?)
5TODO: should explore PerlIO::via::CoroCede and PerlIO::via::CoroAIO. 4TODO: should explore PerlIO::via::CoroCede and PerlIO::via::CoroAIO.
6TODO: maybe implement a default message channel, very much like Erlang 5TODO: maybe implement a default message channel, very much like Erlang

8 but very lacking in others). 7 but very lacking in others (higher level ipc)).

103.7 9 - incompatible change: $SIG{__DIE__} and $SIG{__WARN__} will now
10 be local to each coro (see Coro::State).
11 - possibly bring back 5.10 compatibility (untested).
12 - work around stupid (and wrong) warning on 5.10 :(.
13 - overlay the saved state over the context stack. This saves
14 a few hundred bytes per coroutine on average and also
15 speeds up context switching a bit.
16 - (more) correctly calculate stack usage in coro_rss.
17
184.03 Sat Oct 6 21:24:00 CEST 2007
19 - added Coro::throw method.
20 - minor code cleanups.
21
224.02 Sat Oct 6 02:36:47 CEST 2007
23 - fix a very minor per-coroutine memleak (a single codereference).
24 - fixed a bug where the currently in-use c context would be freed
25 prematurely (can happen only when programs change the stacksize
26 or use tracing).
27 - tracing can no longer keep a coro alive after it terminated.
28 - do static branch prediction in the common path for gcc. gives
29 about 2-5% speed improvement here.
30
314.01 Fri Oct 5 22:10:49 CEST 2007
32 - instead of recreating *a* standard output handle we simply
33 use STDOUT, which is faster and hopefully more robust.
34
354.0 Fri Oct 5 12:56:00 CEST 2007
11 - incompatibly changed Coro::Storable::freeze. 36 - incompatibly changed Coro::Storable::freeze.
12 - added Coro::Debug, interactive coroutine debugging. 37 - major new feature: added Coro::Debug, for interactive coroutine
38 debugging, tracing and much more.
39 - major bug fix: unbelievable, but true: $_, $/ and many other
40 "saved" variables actually weren't being saved. This has been fixed,
41 of course, while increasing performance while losing all the save
42 flags.
43 - save flags are gone, and all the api functions dealing with them.
13 - added Coro::Semaphore::adjust. 44 - added Coro::Semaphore::adjust.
14 - added Coro::Util::fork_eval. 45 - added Coro::Util::fork_eval.
15 - added Coro::Storable::{nfreeze,blocking_{freeze,nfreeze}}. 46 - added Coro::Storable::{nfreeze,blocking_{freeze,nfreeze}}.
47 - added Coro::killall.
16 - reduce initial stack sizes to allow for "micro-coroutines". 48 - reduce initial stack sizes to allow for "micro-coroutines".
17 - better async_pool resource management, moved parts of async_pool 49 - better async_pool resource management, moved parts of async_pool
18 handling to XS (major speed improvement). 50 handling to XS (major speed improvement).
51 - actually croak before modifying important data structures.
52 - refuse to transfer while compiling.
53 - possibly support eval EXPR better now.
54 - enable assembly per default on linux+bsd x86+amd64.
55 - all internal members were renamed _something for easier subclassing.
19 - many minor tweaks. 56 - many minor tweaks.

22 - implement handcoded assembly for x86/amd64 SVR ABI. 59 - implement handcoded assembly for x86/amd64 SVR ABI.
