       not 0 or 1 in perl. or use attached magic?
 TODO: get rid of dynamic arrays to support so-called C compilers
       by fucking microsoft that do not do C. argl, snprintf is also
       missing.

+        - added latin1 flag to produce JSON texts in the latin1 subset
