16
174.6
18 - try very hard not to exhaust the kernel tty buffers, even
19 if it slows down large pastes and is only cosmetic.
20 - streamline atom and xft color allocation to reduce startup
21 time (12.8s -> 7.8s on my dsl). Still, doing it with only 2-3
22 turnarounds would be much faster, but impossible to implement(?).
23 - implement underlineColor resource when ENABLE_FRILLS.
24 - iom left it's signal pipe handle open in the child
25 process. Fortunately not security-relevant as the pipe data gets
26 ignored.
27 - do not use XSETROOTPMAP_ID anymore, support ESETROOT_PMAP_ID
28 instead.
29 - fix a crash in rxvtd when the last window was being closed
30 (reported by hednod).
31 - fix an unlikely memory leak.
32 - fix atom name enumeration.
33
344.5 Mon Dec 13 07:47:16 CET 2004
35 - fix an extremely nasty bug in utf8-conversion. upgrade is advised.
36 - completely re-wrote selection pasting. This should fix garbled
37 incomplete characters at 32k boundaries and too-short INCR
38 selections, and more. Increases memory requirements considerably
39 for large selections, but that seems unavoidable.
40
414.4 Sun Dec 12 22:10:06 CET 2004
42 - rewrote handling of default-char width.
43 - implement _NET_WM_NAME et al., and also use UTF8_STRING
44 for the xterm property esc. sequence. Allows i18n window
45 titles etc.
46 - SMART_WINDOW_TITLE removed, pls. complain if you need this.
47 - added GBK encoding (formidable patch by WU Fengguang).
48 - fixed a bug in the transparency code.
49 - upgraded iom.[Ch].
50 - force slower (but more responsive) transparency update.
51 - fix off-by-one bug with wide characters at the end of a line,
52 which got partially overwritten by spaces.
53 - as xlib is completely broken with respect to utf-8 handling
54 and nobody is going to fix it, that part has been re-implemented.
55 should fix most paste problems between apps that use UTF8 encoding
56 and rxvt running in a lesser-supported locale (thanks to Robin Redeker
57 for writing utf8towcs). Only enabled with ENABLE_FRILLS.
58 - darwin compile fix by Ethan Blanton.
59 - fix the colour of the underline, which was rather random before.
60
614.3 Sat Dec 4 04:58:37 CET 2004
62 - unapply the "emulated graphical chars. respect wcwidth" patch.
63 obviously in locales not having these characters they should
64 still have a width. Solve it correctly by not relying on wcwidth.
65 Note to self: do not ever apply patches without checking them
66 thoroughly.
67 - updated .spec file, it's included in the release tarball
68 now, too.
69
704.2 Wed Dec 1 03:30:22 CET 2004
71 - make emulated graphical characters respect wcwidth (Kuang-che Wu).
72 - remove debugging code that caused major slowdowns
73 on high-latency networks.
74 - wide characters shift the correct number of characters
75 in insert mode now. Reported by Gunnar Ritter.
76 - doc/rxvt-unicode.spec file contributed by Ville Herva.
77 - make storage of tab movements as characters optional
78 on the -ptab option and pastableTabs: resource. On request
79 by Gunnar Ritter.
80 - fix a bug where :size= argument for xft fonts was ignored
81 or used incorrectly. Reported by Ville Herva.
82
834.1 Sun Nov 21 21:10:19 CET 2004
84 - save and restore cursor position in secondary screen regardless of
85 -ssc/-ssr settings.
86 - fix some 64-bit bugs that lead to crashes with certain other
87 programs like vncviewer (original rxvt also affected).
88 - added doc/podtbl to the dist tarball.
89 - add compile fix for darwin.
90 - configure fix for transparency without tinting.
91 - changed CN to ZH _really_ everywhere.
92 - upgraded iom.[Ch].
93
944.0 Mon Sep 13 01:10:26 CEST 2004
95 - turn off autohinting for some badly-hinted fallback fonts.
96 - mnaapge tpyo crorcetoins by Bastian Kleineidam.
97 - implemented rectangular selections (button+meta), experimental.
98 - implement race-free signal handling in iom.C.
99 - use iom.C signal handling to avoid races in signal handling.
100 - use default action on SIGINT and SIGQUIT, instead of terminating.
101 - "the return of the 100 times per second refresh bug".
102 ... terminated by a fix.
103 - new supported preeeditType "None".
104 - added FAQ about possible compose key problems.
105 - changed CN to ZH everywhere (sorry for the confusion).
106 - move XFilterEvent up, as some input method seem to want events
107 for windows not requesting XIM. Please report if this change
108 causes any harm (specially with pointerblanking)
109 (patch by Kuang-che Wu).
110 - send the input method spot position on every refresh, not just
111 when rxvt thinks it should (which was not often enough...).
112 - fix double-wide combining characters (it might look a bit ugly,
113 though, but common cases are handled by normalization anyways).
114 - moved FAQ to rxvt(7), also made a copy into README.FAQ.
115 - fix a bug(?) in the XIM destroy callback.
116 - be more conservative when trying to register new input methods,
117 as Xlib races might make rxvt crash. When two or more
118 input methods are active, killing one probably still crashes rxvt
119 due to that bug :( Thanks a lot to Kuang-che Wu for immense help
120 in tracking this down.
121 - manpages (but not .txt and .html versions) will be patched (during
122 make install) with the correct program name and other info.
123
1243.9 Wed Aug 25 19:24:04 CEST 2004
125 - the change to unsigned int from unsigned short broke
126 many signed comparisons, resulting in failed assertions.
127
1283.8 Wed Aug 25 05:46:56 CEST 2004
129 - WARNING: TERM=rxvt-unicode is now *default* unless compiled
130 differently. A terminfo entry will automatically be compiled and
131 installed if tic is available.
132 - fixed some --disable switches that didn't work.
133 - tweaked src/features.h a bit.
134 - removed README.unicode.
135 - support select&paste of tab characters.
136 - fixed a segfault when trying to load nonexistant fonts (reported
137 by Eduard Bloch and Mikael Magnusson).
138 - fixed a long-standing rxvt bug in which rxvt failed to save
139 and restore the correct cursor position on the secondary screen.
140 - reworked rxvt-unicode terminfo to allow more efficient and less flickering
141 screen updates with curses.
142 - wide characters that are being halfway overwritten are now replaced
143 by spaces.
144 - urxvtc now transmits urxvt as default name, not urxvtc anymore
145 (likewise for other names chosen at configure time).
146 - disabled the automatic font lookup for unknown characters. xft
147 is just too slow for this to work.
148 - changed realbold code, implemented _real_ bold and italic support,
149 where _real_ means the symbiosis of what I want with what I can
150 implement. use --enable-styles.
151 - removed 256 color mode, but enable 88 colours in all modes
152 (88 to be compatible with 88 colour xterm which is widely
153 supported, and most programs assume a non-iso colourtable
154 for terminals with "odd" number of colours).
155 - added doc/etc/rxvt-unicode.terminfo which is a big overhaul
156 compared to the old rxvt terminfo.
157 - sped up xft rendering by 30% *iff* the font allows it (i.e. is
158 monospaced "enough") *and* matches the base font in width.
159 - implement positive and negative character-font caching, which
160 speeds up output immensely in case a character cannot be found
161 (only for non-bold right now).
162 - fix segfault in fading code on certain escape sequences.
163 - better default font size and style.
164 - rxvt-unicode is now much more picky about fonts not fitting
165 into the base font, but to offset this it will check each
166 single character against the base font extents and will only
167 use the characters fitting into the bounding box (+ some fudge).
168 - characters not fitting into the base boundary box will now often
169 be used anyways, but the following characters will be redrawn
170 more often to avoid pixel-droppings. This is like the original
171 rxvt pixel-dropping pass but it's much faster.
172 - scrollColor now affects plain scrollbar (Mikael Magnusson).
173 - fixed segfault in overlay code when height was larger than the
174 screen height.
175 - cursor no longer shines "through" the overlay.
176 - 7-bit ST marker detection was broken.
177 - scrollbar didn't come back sometimes when switching it
178 off/on using escape sequences (Mikael Magnusson).
179 - fix lots of colour problems with focus fading.
180 - $COLORFGBG was not set as documented.
181 - fix iso 14755 5.1 support when --enable-frills but --disable-iso14755.
182 - removed OSC 702.
183 - disabled MOUSE_REPORT_DOUBLECLICK by default, as programs seem to be
184 confused by it rather than using it.
9 185
103.7 Tue Aug 17 04:22:25 CEST 2004 1863.7 Tue Aug 17 04:22:25 CEST 2004
11 - new configure option --enable-iso14755. 187 - new configure option --enable-iso14755.
12 - full iso 14755 conformance (at least I claim so :). 188 - full iso 14755 conformance (at least I claim so :).
13 - extended the FAQ section in the manpage. 189 - extended the FAQ section in the manpage.
