5403:32:26 <BlueFish> Hi. I think I found a bug in special_encode in rxvtperl.xs
5503:33:37 <BlueFish> special_encode('لا') or any other string that contains 'لا' returns a disturbed string
5603:33:40 <schmorp> hi BlueFish
5703:34:10 <schmorp> whats a disturbed string?
5803:34:25 <BlueFish> for example سلام becomes ملام
5903:35:05 <BlueFish> see this issue: https://github.com/mkamensky/Text-Bidi/issues/10 I was trying to fix it
60 and after playing around for a while found out that special_encode is causing the problem
6103:35:36 <schmorp> does this happen when you compile without --enable-combining (or with --disable-combining)?
6203:37:40 <BlueFish> I don't know the one that I installed from my distro repository has this flag or not. Is
63 there anyway to check?
6403:38:49 <schmorp> rxvt --help will output a options: line at the top, whioch will list "combining"
6503:39:10 <schmorp> anyway, I don't think i will understand this at my current tiredness level, I'll have a
66 look when I have time
6703:39:26 <schmorp> are you usually around on this network, so I coulöd ask you in cas eI have questions?
6803:40:25 <BlueFish> yes combining is enabled. No I don't check IRC that much. You can reach me via email
6903:40:44 <schmorp> ok, thats fine

71
72 - implement a fix for CVE-2022-4170 (reported and analyzed by David Leadbeater).
73 While present in version 9.30, it should not be exploitable. It is exploitable
74 in versions 9.25 and 9.26, at least, and allows anybody controlling terminal
75 input to execute arbitrary code in the urxvt process.
76 - the background extension no longer requires off focus fading support
77 to be compiled in.
78 - the confirm-paste extension now offers a choice betwene pasting the original
79 or a sanitized version, and also frees up memory used to store the paste text
80 immediately.
81 - fix compiling without frills.
82 - fix rewrapMode: never.
83 - fix regression that caused urxvt to no longer emit responses
84 to OSC color queries other than OSC 4 ones.
85 - fix regression that caused urxvt to no longer process OSC 705.
86 - restore CENTURY to be 1900 to "improve" year parsing in urclock (or at
87 least go back to the old interpretation) (based on an analysis
88 by Tommy Pettersson).
89 - exec_async (used e.g. by the matcher extension to spawn processes) now
90 sets the URXVT_EXT_WINDOWID variable to the window id opf the terminal.
91 - implement -fps option/refreshRate resource to change the default 60 Hz
92 maximum refresh limiter. I always wanted an fps option, but had to
93 wait for a user requesting it.
94
959.30 Sat 27 Nov 2021 21:07:09 CET
96 - the background extension did not initialise properly when automatically
97 loaded via the OSC.
98 - new "on_attach" hook type implemented, to initialise late-loading
99 extensions.
100
1019.29 Mon 22 Nov 2021 18:07:14 CET
102 - libptytty (http://dist.schmorp.de/libptytty/) is now a required
103 external dependency.
104 - enable confirm-paste extension by default, can be disabled by e.g.
105 URxvt.perl-ext: -confirm-paste
106 - Key bindings specified with the -keysym option or with resources of
107 the form URxvt*keysym work again. Such resources, as opposed to
108 resources of the form URxvt.keysym, were not officially allowed but
109 accepted, so ignoring them is considered a regression.
110 - new option/resource -rm/rewrapMode, which sets the line rewrap
111 mode to auto, never or always.
112 - new option/resource -dpb/disablePasteBrackets, which can be used to
113 disable bracketed paste mode sequences, as more and more programs
114 abuse these sequences (typically in the name of security, but these
115 sequences are not improving security). Also, bracketed paste mode
116 is now under frills.
117 - add manpage for urclock.
118 - confirm-paste wrongly considered brackets as ctrlchars (patch by
119 Jakub Wilk, debian bug #995244).
120 - if urxvt cannot detect a good estimate for font width (because a font does
121 not contain latin characters at all for example), it will now fall
122 back to xft's max_advance_width, which works well with some fonts. It
123 currently will warn about this.
124 - do not render variation selectors in the default font as boxes, treat
125 them as zero-width characters.
126 - change combining character architecture to allow fonts to handle
127 combining sequences on their own. This could allow future renderers
128 to be more intelligent about these sequences.
129 - use the previous enhancement to allow unicode characters outside of the
130 BMP to be rendered even without --enable-unicode3, as long as an
131 xft with the character is configured.
132 It's recommended to stay with disabled unicode3 even more now.
133 - freetype/xft have been verified to return nonsensical offsets for
134 combining characters. urxvt tries to compensate to some extent,
135 but diacritics will be slightly off in many cases, and far off in
136 some cases (e.g. input mono).
137 - when checking for overlap/careful handling, take non-basefont
138 character shifts into account.
139 - extensions can now request autoloading on OSC and Perl OSC sequences,
140 implement this for the background, clipboard-osc and overlay-osc
141 extensions.
142 - the background extension will now be autoloaded when the OSC 20 or 705
143 sequence is received.
144 - added OSC 776 sequence to return character cell width, height and font
145 ascent, which is useful when using urxvt as slave to calculate window
146 size form or to row/column count.
147 - matcher extension documentation now points out some requirements for
148 regular expressions. the default url matching regex will now try
149 to match IRLs in addition to URLs.
150 - The view_start perl method now scrolls to the bottom also when the
151 argument is greater than 0.
152 - eval scroll actions now scroll to the bottom when scrolling down and
153 there are less lines to scroll than the ones requested (reported by
154 Stephen Talley).
155 - allow perl-ext and perl-ext-common to override autoloaded extensions.
156 this allows tabbed to disable itself in subtabs, avoiding recursive
157 loading.
158 - update precompose table to unicode 13.0.
159 - update charset conversion tables to perl 5.32 (this only affected
160 cs_koi8_u_from_unicode).
161 - unicode characters > 0x100000 were not handled correctly w.r.t.
162 font rendering.
163 - replace bitstream vera by dejavu sans, as it has replaced the former
164 almost everywhere.
165 - urxvt will now try tic -x first and only fall back to tic without -x
166 when tic -x fails.
167 - fix urclock not erasing the old date on the clock face, causing
168 overdraw, plus a host of other small fixes and improvements.
169 - shave off over 1K of code size from urclock by replacing the sine table
170 with a slightly less accurate fixed point approximation.
171 - do not specify indentation with =over in pod, this is no longer
172 needed with semi-modern pod tools and gives the formatter more
173 stylistic freedom.
174 - background extension did not set the "size-sensitive" flag
175 when repeat mode wasn't normal.
176 - extensions are now subjected to "use strict 'subs'".
177 - avoid crashing when xft successfully opens a font but then somehow
178 can't lock the face.
179 - locale_decode/encode api methods now pass through undef unchanged.
180 - fix undefined behaviour in the perl hook function, as diagnosed by clang.
181
1829.26 Fri May 14 19:14:14 CEST 2021
183 - ev_iouring.c was wrongly required during compilation, and wrongly
184 not packaged.
185
1869.25 Fri May 14 15:51:36 CEST 2021
187 - for the 17.5th anniversary, and because many distributions seem to
188 remove rxvt in favour of urxvt, this release resurrects rclock as
189 urclock.
190 - add support for systemd socket-based activation - debian bug #917105,
191 freebsd bug #234276.
192 - do not destruct perl on exit anymore: this might fail for a variety of
193 reasons, and takes unnecessary time.
194 - remove any macros from urxvtperl manpage(s), should fix debian
195 bug 858385.
196 - the old bg image resources are now provided by the background
197 extension, and perl is thus required for bg image support. No
198 configuration change is needed: urxvt autoloads the background
199 ext if any bg image resource/option is present (for OSC sequences to
200 work you need to enable it explicitly). The old bg image
201 resources are also now deprecated; users are encouraged to
202 switch to the new bg image interface (see man urxvt-background).
203 - confirm-paste now checks for any ctlchars, not just newlines.
204 - searchable scrollback will now ignore bracketed paste mode sequences
205 (prompted by Daniel Gröber's patch).
206 - drop ISO 2022 locale support. ISO 2022 encodings are not supported in
207 POSIX locales and clash with vt100 charset emulation (the luit
208 program can be used as a substitute).
209 - perl didn't parse rgba colours specified as an array correctly,
210 only allowing 0 and 100% intensity for each component (this affected
211 fill and tint).
212 - when iterating over resources, urxvt will now try to properly handle
213 multipart resources (such as "*background.expr"), for the benefit
214 of autoloading perl extensions.
215 - ESC G (query rxvt graphics mode) has been disabled due to security
216 implications. The rxvt graphics mode was removed in rxvt-unicode 1.5,
217 and no programs relying on being able to query the mode are known.
218 - work around API change breakage in perl 5.28, based on a patch by
219 Roman Bogorodskiy.
220 - improved security: rob nation's (obsolete) graphics mode queries
221 no longer reply with linefeed in secure/default mode.
222 - ISO 8613-3 direct colour SGR sequences (patch by Fengguang Wu).
223 - xterm focus reporting mode (patch by Daniel Hahler).
224 - xterm SGR mouse mode.
225 - implement DECRQM. Patch by Přemysl Eric Janouch.
226 - add missing color index parameter to OSC 4 response. Patch
227 by Přemysl Eric Janouch.
228 - in some window managers, if smart resize was enabled, urxvt
229 erroneously moved the window on font change - awesome bug
230 #532, arch linux bug ##34807 (patch by Uli Schlachter).
231 - fix urxvtd crash when using a background expression.
232 - properly restore colors when using fading and reverse video
233 is enabled while urxvt is focused and then disabled while it
234 is not focused, or vice versa (patch by Daniel Hahler).
235 - fix high memory usage when an extension repeatedly hides and
236 shows an overlay (reported by Marcel Lautenbach).
237 - expose priv_modes member and constants to perl extensions
238 (patch by Rastislav Barlik).
239 - fix a whole slew of const sillyness, unfortunately forced upon
240 us by ISO C++.
241 - update to libecb 0x00010006.
242 - disable all thread support in ecb.h as we presumably don't need it.
243 - slightly improve Makefile source dependencies.
244 - work around bugs in newer Pod::Xhtml versions (flags incorrect formatting codes
245 in xhtml/html sections but does not interpret correct ones).
246
2479.22 Sat Jan 23 21:07:33 CET 2016
248 - NOTICE: this release updates terminfo.
249 - add terminfo capabilities for various ctrl and shift-ctrl key variants
250 (patch by Sebastian Schmidt).
251 - fix longstanding core font encoding bug where some character
252 ranges could not be mapped from unicode to the font: affected
253 encodings are big5, gb2312, iso8859-8 (hebrew), jis0201 and
254 ksc5601 (reported by Mikachu).
255 - fix crash when the number of columns is 1 and a 0 width character is inserted
256 (reported by Kuang-che Wu).
257 - fix a crash when parsing an invalid color specification (reported by Kuang-che Wu).
258 - fix a buffer overflow in font name parser (reported by Kuang-che Wu).
259 - do not start blinking cursor if the window is unfocused (reported by
260 Devin J. Pohly).
261 - change the width of underline and i-beam cursor to 2 pixels (based on
262 a patch by Omar Sandoval).
263 - add pointerShape resource to change the mouse pointer shape
264 (based on a patch by Brian Watson).
265 - a keysym resource for a key which is already bound to an
266 action now properly rebinds the key.
267 - do not report mouse motion events if Shift is active (patch by Daniel Hahler).
268 - put the alpha component last in responses to OSC color queries
269 (patch by Benjamin Herr).
270 - the key_press hook is now invoked before processing the
271 event, as documented. This change was done in 9.21 but not
272 announced and fixes debian bugs #511377, #531751 and red hat
273 bug #1105069. Note that this change breaks a few scripts,
274 such as mark-yank-urls, which rely on the previous buggy
275 behaviour that urxvt processes the event (in particular
276 keysym bindings) before invoking the hook.
277 - the tabbed extension now properly refreshes the active tab
278 on a key press when the mouse pointer is outside the terminal
279 window.
280 - add 'lookup_keysym' perl method to lookup the action bound
281 to a key combination.
282 - a key combination bound to 'matcher:select' can now be used
283 to cycle through the matches in matcher.
284 - change perl integer accessors (->width et al.) into mutators.
285 - this version has ben verified to work with perl 5.8.3.
286
2879.21 Wed Dec 31 14:50:03 CET 2014
288 - the "moa redraw 8-bit british vintage colour management" release.
289 - NOTICE: this release updates terminfo.
290 - fix pixel droppings on overdraw when a secondary core font has the
291 same height but different ascent.
292 - implement cvvis in terminfo as blinking cursor, to distinguish it
293 from cnorm (emacs uses cvvis which is commonly a blinking cursor).
294 - when xft support was compiled in, colour queries erroneously returned
295 premultiplied values, this also affected internal queries, for example
296 when calculating faded colour. alpha is now divided out when possible,
297 which is more correct but loses colour resolution.
298 - add DECSCUSR xterm extension to set the cursor to a vertical bar.
299 - add 'extension:string' action, and associated on_action perl
300 hook, for keysym resources that invokes actions provided by
301 perl extensions. The 'perl:string' action and
302 on_user_command hook are deprecated but still supported.
303 - add 'builtin-string' action for keysym resources that restores string
304 mappings for keys that have predefined actions in urxvt.
305 - add -k option to urxvtc for killing the daemon process.
306 - document urxvtd's -e/--eval option that was implemented in 9.16,
307 but not documented.
308 - add -dockapp option to make the wm treat urxvt as a dockapp.
309 - add -mc option and multiClickTime resource to set the maximum time
310 between multi-click select events (patch by Joe Peterson).
311 - new 'eval' extension to evaluate arbitrary perl code with keysym
312 bindings. The extension also provides methods that implement basic
313 actions, such as pasting selections and scrolling.
314 - the macosx-clipboard and macosx-clipboard-native extensions have been removed.
315 - kuake extension now uses the kuake.hotkey resource to specify the hotkey.
316 - new 'matcher:select' mode of matcher to iterate over the matches with the keyboard.
317 - the 'matcher:list' feature of matcher now honours the launcher
318 associated to a matched pattern.
319 - speed-up matcher underlining on very long lines (reported by Edward Z. Yang).
320 - fix up/down commands of searchable-scrollback so that they always move
321 to the previous/next logical line with a match, if any.
322 - searchable-scrollback resource has been deprecated (use keysym instead).
323 - extension parameter passing is deprecated (use resource mechanism instead).
324 - upgrade to GPLv3 (see COPYING).
325 - compile out of the box on Solaris 10, again.
326 - fix height and position of the stippled area in next scrollbar (patch
327 by Thomas Otto).
328 - fix off-by-one bug causing the iso14755 window not to jump out of the
329 way properly.
330 - fix crash that may happen if a lib to which urxvt is linked to calls setenv.
331 - fix memory leak in special_{encode,decode} perl methods.
332 - fix refresh bug that occurs when reverse video is set on a cell
333 containing a space and with the same bg and fg colour, red hat bug
334 #830236.
335 - fix crash that may happen if an x error is received after a terminal
336 window/popup has been destroyed already.
337 - removed superfluous 0 digit from sgr terminfo sequence.
338 - greatly improve colour allocation on colour-starved pseudocolour
339 displays to avoid read-write cells instead of simply failing
340 (this is only relevant for antique 8bpp frame buffers).
341 - do not free fade colours when not doing fading (this is likely
342 only relevant for antique 8bpp frame buffers).
343 - do not specialcase 2 or 4 colour visuals, leading to
344 simpler and actually more correct code.
345 - hopefully no longer leak colours on !truecolour visuals.
346 - use consistent method names (scr_recolour => scr_recolor).
347 - use simpler (but slightly less bogus) formula for nearest
348 colour choice (this is likely only relevant for antique 8bpp
349 frame buffers).
350 - remove fallback behaviour when initialising colours - the
351 behaviour was inconsistent between startup vs. later and
352 was only effective when valid colours couldn't be allocated.
353
3549.20 Sat Apr 26 16:22:27 CEST 2014
355 - (libptytty) fix bug that prevented urxvtd from writing utmp
356 entries when using --fork (reported by Ryan Kavanagh).
357 - security bugfix: window property values could be queried even
358 in secure mode (reported by Conor McCarthy).
359 - fix build when perl is enabled and fading is disabled.
360 - fix regression that broke continuous scrolling when pressing
361 and holding the scrollbar up or down button, gentoo bug #493992.
362 - increase the maximum length of a command sequence to 32k bytes,
363 to allow longer OSC sequences (previous limit was 2k).
364 - new Ctrl-Meta-c and Ctrl-Meta-v bindings to interact with
365 the CLIPBOARD selection.
366 - new extension: selection-to-clipboard.
367 - the extensions macosx-clipboard and macosx-clipboard-native
368 are deprecated and will be removed in the next release.
369 Support for the clipboard on OS X can be more generally
370 enabled by setting the XQuartz preference to sync the OS X
371 pasteboard and the X11 clipboard.
372
3739.19 Sun Oct 27 17:16:07 CET 2013
374 - work around perl 5.18.0 breakage in tabbed extension
375 (reported by Karol Blazewicz) and in pod (Dominic Hargreaves).
376 - fix regression that caused the double-click word selection to
377 erroneously include a tab on the left of the selected word.
378 - implement FOCUS variable and focus_fade function in background
379 expression, to allow focus-sensitive background images.
380 - add support for the set cursor style (DECSCUSR) control
381 function.
382 - honour cursorColor also when the cursor style is underline.
383 - export some Color_xxx constants to Perl.
384
3859.18 Sun Mar 24 15:33:35 CET 2013
386 - fix regression that caused artifacts on resize.
387
3889.17 Fri Mar 1 13:46:08 CET 2013
389 - add shade operator in background perl extension.
390 - avoid starting or ending the selection in the middle of wide
391 characters to avoid artifacts (reported by Tiago Resende).
392 - fix artifacts that may occur if the character in the cursor
393 cell has width > 1 (reported by Tiago Resende).
394 - fix regression that causes artifacts on scrolling if
395 saveLines is 0 and the window is resized (reported by Bert
396 Münnich).
397 - fix build when perl is enabled and pixbuf and transparency
398 are disabled.
399
4009.16 Thu Dec 27 11:56:43 CET 2012
401 - the "so much new stuff your eyes will pop out" release.
402 - INCOMPATIBLE CHANGE: renamed urlLauncher resource to url-launcher.
403 - fix processing of DEC private mode save sequences (patch by Patrick
404 Hemmer).
405 - perl extensions now have their own manpages, installed as urxvt-NAME(1),
406 e.g. urxvt-background(1) - see urxvt-extensions(1) for a list.
407 - fix disabling of cursor blink with the option-popup menu (based on a
408 patch by Jan Larres).
409 - the font height is not augmented anymore when lineSpace is non zero.
410 - fix "new pagemap" vs. "delete pagemap" mismatch ([] vs. non-[]),
411 as diagnosed by clang.
412 - fix height mismatch between active and inactive cursor when
413 lineSpace is non zero (patch by Stanislav Seletskiy).
414 - make it compile with LOCAL_X_IS_UNIX again (reported by
415 nickfailure@gmail.com).
416 - completely redone background pixmap support - users can now
417 specify arbitrary expressions (And programs) that calculate
418 new terminal backgrounds. see the urxvt-background manpage
419 for details.
420 - xrender is now required for background pixmap support.
421 - perl extensions can now provide commandline switches and resources
422 which show up in -help etc.
423 - iso14755 51 mode window now displays row and column.
424 - implement a -visual switch and move that and -depth to frills, also
425 warn when we can't get the requested visual.
426 - new env variable: RXVT_PERL_LIB.
427 - allocate all screen memory in one go and let the virtual memory
428 subsystem sort it out. this simplifies code, improves access
429 locality, saves a bit of ram and makes things a bit faster, too.
430 - remove support for libafterimage.
431 - update to CVS version of libev, for a whopping 11kb size decrease.
432 - do not ship yet another copy of ecb.h, use the one in libev or
433 libptytty instead.
434 - selectively mark some methods as cache-hot/cache cold, which
435 might speed up execution but definitely decreases codesize.
436 - Fix regression that prevented the scrollbar trough color
437 from being applied (reported by Derek B. Noonburg).
438 - Fix the scrollbar size for rxvt style (patch by Mark Robinson).
439
4409.15 Sat Jan 21 13:36:56 CET 2012
441 - remove "using namespace std" because clang erroneously
442 thinks thats an error.
443 - finding a matching font (e.g. bold version of the base font)
444 was broken (reported by Eamon Walker).
445 - fix parsing of bg image styles. They really work now.
446 - fix blurring of bg image borders when using xrender.
447 - fix xrender blur on common xrender implementations that do
448 not behave correctly when the same pixmap is used as source
449 and destination in composite operations.
450 - fix regression that caused tabbed to compute the wrong size
451 for tabs.
452 - allow again an empty suffix in a keysym list spec (patch by
453 Sung Pae).
454 - unsupported support for sun studio's CC added.
455 - fix -C option on solaris.
456
4579.14 Wed Dec 21 18:40:33 CET 2011
458 - INCOMPATIBLE CHANGE: the urxvtd default socket path is now
459 $HOME/.urxvt/urxvtd-<nodename>.
460 - INCOMPATIBLE CHANGE: the "list" keysym expansion now requires
461 loading of the "keysym-list" perl extension.
462 - INCOMPATIBLE CHANGE: A scale value of 0 in the bg image
463 geometry no longer enables tiling, so as to make it possible
464 to disable both scaling and tiling.
465 - overhaul of the bg image operations. The old operations have
466 been deprecated in favour of elementary operations and
467 styles built on top of the new operations and scale/position
468 settings. (Emanuele Giaquinta).
469 - support for libafterimage is deprecated and will be removed
470 in the next release.
471 - fix a crash caused by selection_check not properly resetting
472 out-of-bounds mark values (can happen when extending a selection
473 while scrolling up in curses programs for example).
474 - do not move the selection when scrolling up and the selection is
475 outside the scrolling region (Emanuele Giaquinta).
476 - fix display of bold bright black (reported by Ben Winslow).
477 - fix memory leak when urgentOnBell is set (patch by Nathaniel
478 Filardo).
479 - fix a redraw bug that occurs when a bg pixmap is set and the
480 wm does not honour the size hints set by urxvt. Now urxvt
481 forces the size of the terminal window to be a multiple of
482 the cell size.
483 - sanitise the argument of SD / SU sequences. Fixes a possible
484 crash when the argument is big enough, red hat bug #711137
485 (Emanuele Giaquinta).
486 - correctly split long lines when scrolling.
487 - urxvt now looks for perl extensions also in $HOME/.urxvt/ext.
488 - add bell-command perl extension to execute a command when a
489 bell event occurs (Ryan Kavanagh).
490 - add set_urgency perl binding to set/reset the urgency hint.
491 - consume button release event in matcher (exg).
492 - keyboard accessible list of recent matches in matcher
493 (Bob Farrell).
494 - properly process 'keysym' sequences in tabbed when using
495 'focus follows mouse' and the focus is on the main window
496 but not on the active terminal window (patch by Martin
497 Pohlack).
498 - support for the freedesktop startup-notification protocol (patch by
499 Michael Stapelberg).
500 - the direction of VPR and VPB commands was reversed.
501 - fix alignment of inherited root pixmap when it is a different size
502 than the root window and the terminal window is off the left or top
503 edge (Mikachu).
504 - make $self visible in "eval perl expression" popup action, also
505 handle exceptions better.
506 - fix parsing of '-e' when it occurs as an option argument, such as in
507 'urxvt -title -e' (Emanuele Giaquinta).
508
5099.12 Wed Jun 29 14:34:28 CEST 2011
510 - fix regression in processing of SelectionNotify events.
511 urxvt would fail to request a selection if the owner did not
512 support the UTF8_STRING target.
513 - fix rendering of double width chars in certain circumstances, more
514 likely to happen if urxvt is compiled with 256 colors support as
515 urxvt runs out of fonts much earlier then. Fixes gentoo bug #358151
516 (Emanuele Giaquinta).
517 - restore support for 'list' syntax in keysym resources (requested by Sung Pae).
518 - always premultiply colour values - while this increases differences between
519 core fonts and xft, it is "more correct" in practical situations.
520 - disable PTYTTY_REENTRANT option - not needed for urxvt and saves a bit of code.
521 - remove lucidatypewriter from the list of fallback fonts, it was the only
522 non-xft non-cellfont in the list anyway.
523
5249.11 Mon May 2 10:34:46 CEST 2011
525 - fix compilation on GNU/Hurd, debian bug #624736.
526 - remove 'list' syntax for keysym resources, as it serves no useful purpose.
527 If you need it, poke us and provide a use case.
528 - fix alpha channel support. Premultiply alpha in colours if the visual
529 supports an alpha channel, as xrender expects premultiplied alpha
530 (Emanuele Giaquinta).
531 - fix reply to a selection request sent by an obsolete client
532 such as syncterm (patch by Marcin Cieslak).
533 - fix crash when the window is resized and the overlay is active
534 (Emanuele Giaquinta, reported by Ryan Kavanagh).
535 - match character-wise rather than byte-wise in selection
536 extension again. perl 5.8.9+ is required to avoid extreme
537 slowdowns. Fixes debian bugs #523072, #616463.
538 - fix a possible crash if the INCR transfer process for a
539 selection property timeouts and at least one chunk is
540 received. (Emanuele Giaquinta)
541 - work around a memory corruption bug in xorg's XrmSetDatabase (apparently
542 broken since http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/xorg-commit-diffs/2004-March/000239.html).
543 - fix memory corruption bug when custom command sequences bound to keys
544 were injected into an already-full pty input buffer.
545 - gdk-pixbuf is autodetected by default and preferred over libafterimage.
546 - do not prepend a newline to the selection text when the starting line
547 of the selection is not highlighted (Emanuele Giaquinta).
548 - don't swap perl env with real env, save and restore it, just in case
549 we ever get recursive perl invocations. also saves a bit of codespace
550 with gcc.
551 - fix various memory leaks (Emanuele Giaquinta).
552 - fix typo in kIC terminfo capability, debian bug #446444.
553 - document 'thickness' resource.
554 - fix debian bug #504817, to the extent possible.
555 - try to detect byte order at compile time, saves a couple of
556 hundred bytes, if your compiler is smart enough.
557 - add support for previewing the pasted data in confirm-paste
558 (Emanuele Giaquinta).
559 - added "newlines to spaces" option in selection-popup.
560 - actually enabled solaris event ports backend (was disabled by accident).
561 - revert to 38400 baud max., mission accomplished.
562 - no longer create scary "pty_fill: PLEASE REPORT" message, instead,
563 silently drain the input (problem is well understood now).
564 - no longer swallow rob nation's own graphics mode commands.
565
5669.10 Mon Dec 13 17:43:52 CET 2010
567 - the "schmorp=north korea dickey=south korea" release.
568 - INCOMPATIBLE CHANGE: make OSC 20 simpler and more correct
569 (Emanuele Giaquinta).
570 - if options were compiled out, this could lead to the option
571 count to be defined wrongly. This is likely behind the
572 failures with gcc 4.5.
573 - explicitly depend on fontconfig and xrender when xft support
574 is enabled. Although the public Xft api uses types from
575 both, in Xft 2.2.0 these libs are private
576 dependencies only thanks to an idiotic behaviour of
577 pkg-config that was added to workaround cases like this one.
578 Fixes linking when using GNU ld with --as-needed or GNU gold
579 (based on patch by Jan Palus).
580 - fix minor memory leaks in urxvt and urxvtd.
581 - fix regression in urxvtd that prevented options from being correctly
582 set (reported by Michal Vaner).
583 - implement xterm's horribly broken 1005 mouse reporting mode,
584 and an alternative 1015 mode that works in non-utf-8 locales
585 and has fewer limitations.
586 - fix a possible bug where mouse notifications didn't work after
587 startup for the upper left corner.
588 - implement our own pixbuf to pixmap rendering to get rid of
589 dependency on buggy gdk-pixbuf-xlib. Only truecolor visuals
590 are supported (Emanuele Giaquinta).
591 - apply tinting before shading when both operations are requested.
592 Previously they were intermixed when lightening and the result
593 was inaccurate and confusing. Note that now a black tint yields a
594 completely black image, regardless of shading (Emanuele Giaquinta).
595 - avoid spurious redraws of the bg image when bg is transparent or
596 when using 'root' mode (Emanuele Giaquinta).
597 - fix build on XFree86.
598 - dynamically number options according to compiletime requirements.
599 For the extra saved byte. Or so. Yay.
600 - start options at one, not zero. Wastes a bit per terminal. Maybe.
601 saves 50 instruction bytes. Possibly.
602
