164.4 155.7 Wed Jul 13 04:46:33 CEST 2005
16 - implement some useful (hopefully) options for rxvtd.
17 - separate and improved rxvtc(1) and rxvtd(1) manpages.
18 - fix a bug that caused segfaults on startup on systems that do
19 not support local unix connections, e.g cygwin. (btw, I didn't
20 even know about the -rootless and -multiwindow Cygwin/X modes).
21 - large amounts of text without control sequences or newlines
22 could almost freeze output. This has been fixed by adding extra
23 refreshes in these cases (also a problem in oriignal rxvt).
24
255.6 Sun Jun 26 22:11:13 CEST 2005
26 - R_SB_RXVT bitset value was 0, so rxvt scrollbar was initialised
27 every time resulting in display errors (original rxvt also affected).
28 Reported by Jasmin Buchert.
29 - font names are now considered to be utf-8 encoded (xft apperently
30 uses this convention. X Core fonts might not, but it should be rare).
31 Affects display in iso14755 box.
32 - rewrote the low-level xft drawing function ("xft backend" for the
33 hipper parts of the world) to hopefully cope better with proportional
34 chars mixed with fixed-width ones.
35 - rxvt is now much more careful (read: slower) with potentially
36 overlapping xft characters. It usually overshoots and redraws
37 more than required, but that's better than undershooting and
38 cutting pieces off of characters.
39 - rxvt is now more restrictive in what font heights it accepts for
40 fonts that will likely overshoot or undershoot lines.
41 - fix a cosmetic problem with the unfocused cursor on a wide character
42 at the end of the line (reported by Mikachu).
43 - wide characters not fitting into the end of the line will be
44 output in the next line (reported by Mikachu).
45 - added doc/solaris9.patch by Ewgenij Starostin.
46
475.5 Sat Apr 23 22:31:36 CEST 2005
48 - re-enabled modifer state matching as in 5.3, but implement
49 a new builtin: keysym style that simply reverts to the built-in
50 meaning of the given key.
51 - use scrollcolor for next scrollbar instead of hardcoded antiquewhite
52 (patch by Martin Edlman).
53
545.4 Mon Apr 18 00:33:31 CEST 2005
55 - match modifier state exactly in custom keyboard code.
56 this is necessary because it has no knowledge about
57 built-in mappings and so will overwrite them. the priority-code
58 will be re-enabled when this has changed, so watch out.
59 - cursor blinking now depends on frills.
60 - underline cursor mode (frills, -uc).
61 - implement special value (*g*) for pointerBlankDelay
62 to disble it.
63
645.3 Sun Mar 13 00:20:44 CET 2005
65 - fix a bug that allowed to overflow a buffer via a long
66 escape sequence, which is probably exploitable (fix by
67 Rob Holland / Yoann Vandoorselaere / Gentoo Audit Team).
68 - Custom key mappings no longer confuse mouse buttons
69 with modifiers.
70 - use XmbSetWMProperties instead of XSetWMProperties.
71 - properly update WM_LOCALE.
72 - implement _NET_WM_PING protocol.
73 - implemented escape sequences to move the scrollback buffer view
74 and clear the scrollback buffer.
75
765.2 Sun Feb 20 01:48:59 CET 2005
77 - new option -pty-fd that makes the terminal a slave
78 that uses an existing pty for I/O instead of starting
79 a command.
80 - implement enough of XEMBED to allow for correct focus.
81 - added doc/embed-tk, an embedding example in Perl/Tk,
82 and doc/rxvt-tabbed, a primitive tabbed shell implemented
83 in Perl/Gtk2.
84 - fix assertion failure ("crash") on mousewheel-scrolling
85 when the terminal height is small, by removing the assert.
86 (reported by Mikael Magnusson).
87 - SYNCCVS. backported bugfixes done to rxvt
88 (sourceforge bugs #1028739, #1028732), except for
89 pts/%s fix as it seems to collide with freebsd,
90 and sourceforge bug #954654, which is not neccessary.
91 - change terminfo file to not clobber G1 when using
92 line-drawing characters, as this seems to mess
93 with EUC-JP (it will clobber G0, but G0 practically
94 needs to be US-ASCII all the time).
95 - toggle default application keypad/cursor mode to help
96 some apps who fail to set the correct mode.
97 - check for WM_PROTOCOLS type in ClientMessage as to
98 not destroy the window for other types of messages.
99 - remove shared library (or any library) support - it is
100 of no use currently (and -embed is a better way to embed
101 rxvt-unicode).
102 - get rid of the intpro files.
103
1045.1 Tue Feb 15 17:13:27 CET 2005
105 - fix a bug when parsing fontnames and another one
106 for empty keymaps which could result in crashes
107 (Kuang-che Wu).
108 - new option: -embed (frills). somebody could write a simple
109 tk script to make a tab'able terminal now...
110 - only warn on X errors and _try_ to continue (frills).
111 - add COPYING back, which got lost somehow.
112 - after deciding that LSM is dead, remove all traces of it,
113 along with other, similar, cleanups.
114 - _try_ to react sensibly to some non-monotonic time changes.
115 - don't crash in urxvtc when getcwd fails (reported by Paco-Paco).
116 - tweak font searching algorithm a bit to be faster and more
117 compatible with older rxvt-unicode versions when multiple fonts
118 match (reported by Paco-Paco).
119 - urxvtd tries to stay in "/" whenever possible.
120
1215.0 Fri Feb 11 18:31:48 CET 2005
122 - document a race-free hack to start urxvtd.
123 - document all(?) environment variables used and set by rxvt.
124 - bring xgetdefault-style resource file ordering more in line with
125 Xt, and document it in rxvt(1).
126 - correctly use screen-dependent resources when --enable-xgetdefault,
127 and also fix some memory bugs (thanks to Thierry Reding for
128 his patience and time in tracking this down).
129 - bring own resource parsing more in line with X resource parsing,
130 most notably, don't remove double quotes.
131 - compile fix for freebsd (no ut_id) (Thierry Thomas).
132 - clean up utmp and pty on X I/O errors and signals (idea
133 by Joël Riou).
134 - "un"document -xrm, it never really worked, was only
135 available with --enable-xgetdefault, is not necessary
136 and is surprisingly hard to implement.
137 - shaved off some code segment size.
138 - various code cleanups.
139 - more keysym-mapping fixes.
140
1414.9 Thu Feb 3 09:52:03 CET 2005
142 - nuke out utmp entries completely. Should be fixed in
143 original rxvt, too. (reported by James Michael Fultz).
144 - resizes wil now correctly refresh the displayed text when
145 -pixmap is active.
146 - new option/resource imFont.
147 - document --tripleclickwords/-tcw.
148 - select logical instead of physical lines when doing a triple-click.
149 - reordered help listing to group similar options together.
150 - handle SIGINT the same way as SIGTERM (reported by Joël Riou).
151 - fix a bug introduced while applying the keyboard patch
152 (WU Fengguang).
153 - document all window-op sequences (rxvt.7.) and more keysym
154 examples (rxvt.1).
155 - removed src/test completely.
156 - renamed keysym 'proto:'-prefix to 'command:'.
157
1584.8 Tue Jan 18 02:23:57 CET 2005
159 - added a patch by WU Fengguang that makes the keyboard
160 highly configurable (e.g. locale changes, custom escape
161 sequences, and more). See keysym resource in rxvt(1).
162 - remove default key sequence for unknown keys again, as this
163 can be achieved by customizing the keyboard now.
164 - fix some freeing problems when destroying the rxvt_display,
165 resulting in segfaults.
166 - don't crash when the saved cursor position doesn't fit on the
167 screen (wrong assert in original rxvt, reported by ikaro).
168 - fix signed/unsigned bugs on wc<->mb conversions.
169 - reset slipwheel scrolling speed when reaching the top or bottom
170 (Mikael Magnusson).
171 - for core fonts, use ascent + descent when a font is loaded,
172 and PIXEL_SIZE when not. when loading a font, iterate until a
173 font has been found that _really_ fits the height (reported and
174 tested by Olivier Wittenberg).
175 - set IUTF8 input flag, when defined (linux-2.6.5+).
176 - only define _XOPEN_SOURCE on solaris.
177 - autogenerate src/* dependency list.
178 - fixed linespace option, which ought to work now (and is dependent
179 on frills, not on it's own configure option).
180 - include pty.h, if available (cygwin).
181 - removed W11 directory from dist, it wasn't used anyway.
182 - initialize the locale much earlier.
183 - fixed two tiny per-instance memory leaks.
184
1854.7 Wed Dec 29 20:54:24 CET 2004
186 - fix a bug in the event logic that could cause the temrinal to be
187 black on initial startup.
188 - do NOT call XCloseIM, ever. This causes way to many crashes due to
189 races in the protocol and within Xlib.
190 - map iso-left-tab to the same sequence as shift-tab.
191 - generate a unique escape sequence for many unknown keys, such as
192 additional multimedia keys.
193 - mask out high (non-unicode) bits on wide characters, to cope with
194 implementations that store tag info in the high bits.
195
1964.6 Thu Dec 16 07:54:23 CET 2004
197 - try very hard not to exhaust the kernel tty buffers, even
198 if it slows down large pastes and is only cosmetic.
199 - streamline atom and xft color allocation to reduce startup
200 time (12.8s -> 7.8s on my dsl). Still, doing it with only 2-3
201 turnarounds would be much faster, but impossible to implement(?).
202 - implement underlineColor resource when ENABLE_FRILLS.
203 - iom left it's signal pipe handle open in the child
204 process. Fortunately not security-relevant as the pipe data gets
205 ignored.
206 - do not use XSETROOTPMAP_ID anymore, support ESETROOT_PMAP_ID
207 instead.
208 - fix a crash in rxvtd when the last window was being closed
209 (reported by hednod).
210 - fix an unlikely memory leak.
211 - fix atom name enumeration.
212
2134.5 Mon Dec 13 07:47:16 CET 2004
214 - fix an extremely nasty bug in utf8-conversion. upgrade is advised.
215 - completely re-wrote selection pasting. This should fix garbled
216 incomplete characters at 32k boundaries and too-short INCR
217 selections, and more. Increases memory requirements considerably
218 for large selections, but that seems unavoidable.
