24 - gdk-pixbuf is autodetected by default and preferred over libafterimage.
25 - do not prepend a newline to the selection text when the starting line
26 of the selection is not highlighted (Emanuele Giaquinta).
27 - don't swap perl env with real env, save and restore it, just in case
28 we ever get recursive perl invocations. also saves a bit of codespace
29 with gcc.
30 - fix various memory leaks (Emanuele Giaquinta).
31 - fix debian bug #504817, to the extent possible.
32 - try to detect byte order at compile time, seems to work around weird linking
33 errors on freebsd (seems to have trouble with static member variables) - also
34 saves a couple of hundred bytes, if your compiler is smart enough.
35 - add support for previewing the pasted data in confirm-paste
36 (Emanuele Giaquinta).
37 - added "newlines to spaces" option in selection-popup.
38 - actually enabled solaris event ports backends (was disabled by accident).
39 - revert to 38400 baud max., mission accomplished.
40
419.10 Mon Dec 13 17:43:52 CET 2010
42 - the "schmorp=north korea dickey=south korea" release.
43 - INCOMPATIBLE CHANGE: make OSC 20 simpler and more correct
44 (Emanuele Giaquinta).
45 - if options were compiled out, this could lead to the option
46 count to be defined wrongly. This is likely behind the
47 failures with gcc 4.5.
48 - explicitly depend on fontconfig and xrender when xft support
49 is enabled. Although the public Xft api uses types from
50 both, in Xft 2.2.0 these libs are private
51 dependencies only thanks to an idiotic behaviour of
52 pkg-config that was added to workaround cases like this one.
53 Fixes linking when using GNU ld with --as-needed or GNU gold
54 (based on patch by Jan Palus).
55 - fix minor memory leaks in urxvt and urxvtd.
56 - fix regression in urxvtd that prevented options from being correctly
57 set (reported by Michal Vaner).
58 - implement xterm's horribly broken 1005 mouse reporting mode,
59 and an alternative 1015 mode that works in non-utf-8 locales
60 and has fewer limitations.
61 - fix a possible bug where mouse notifications didn't work after
62 startup for the upper left corner.
63 - implement our own pixbuf to pixmap rendering to get rid of
64 dependency on buggy gdk-pixbuf-xlib. Only truecolor visuals
65 are supported (Emanuele Giaquinta).
66 - apply tinting before shading when both operations are requested.
67 Previously they were intermixed when lightening and the result
68 was inaccurate and confusing. Note that now a black tint yields a
69 completely black image, regardless of shading (Emanuele Giaquinta).
70 - avoid spurious redraws of the bg image when bg is transparent or
71 when using 'root' mode (Emanuele Giaquinta).
72 - fix build on XFree86.
73 - dynamically number options according to compiletime requirements.
74 For the extra saved byte. Or so. Yay.
75 - start options at one, not zero. Wastes a bit per terminal. Maybe.
76 saves 50 instruction bytes. Possibly.
77
789.09 Sat Nov 13 01:39:07 CET 2010

92 - Use COMPOUND_TEXT encoding for WM_NAME/WM_ICON_NAME value when it
93 is not fully convertible to STRING (patch by James Cloos).
94 - fix a buffer overflow that would cause wrong key sequences to
95 be generated for numpad keys (introduced in 9.05).
96 - fix definition of sgr0 to work around limitations in luit.
97 - extend ISO 14755 5.4 mode to also print the font name of the
98 characters other than first one in the selected cell
99 (Emanuele Giaquinta).
100 - new iso14755 option to disable ISO 14755 at runtime
101 (Emanuele Giaquinta).
102 - make sure pagewise scrolling scrolls at least one line
103 (found by Mikachu).
104 - remove deprecated OSC 18 / 19 and make OSC 17 / 19 apply to
105 highlightColor / highlightTextColor (Emanuele Giaquinta).
106 - add highlightTextColor resource to change the foreground colour of

116 - update rxvt-unicode terminfo to state 7744 colour pairs to cover all
117 88*88 possible pairs.
118 - actually added macosx-clipboard-native, which should have been in
119 the 9.07 release but had been forgotten.
120 - fix hang if DECAWM is not set and there are not enough columns to insert a
121 character (Emanuele Giaquinta).
122 - cub1 ("backspace") will now respect wrapping when past the rightmost column,
123 working around a shortcoming of most tty line discipline's line editing.
124 - add support for grabbing the clipboard selection and extend
125 selection{_clear,_grab,} perl bindings to optionally work
126 on the clipboard selection (based on patch by Dana Jansens).
127 - no longer force CERASE to BACKSPACE - use the system default. affects
128 default value for VERASE only when no compatible setting for
129 backspacekey was given.
130 - use higher than 38400 baudrate setting, if detected.
131 - erase screen would clear to the wrong background when blinking
132 was enabled (which selects high intensity under some circumstances).
133 - scr_kill_char didn't touch the line.
134 - upgrade and port to libev-4.01.
135 - enabled solaris event ports and kqueue backends (if available).

139 in C++), based on patches by Milos Jakubicek and Oliver Mader.
140 - the binary search algorithm to find precomposed characters
141 was faulty, skipping some possible combinations (found by
142 Mikachu).
143 - new -letterspace option, patch by Mark H. Wilkinson.
144 - enable --mlock option for urxvt with frills on
145 systems supporting it (patch by Russell Harmon).

151 refresh (reported by Mikachu).
152 - fix a typo preventing the ISO-646.1991 character set from being
153 recognized (http://achurch.org/patch-pile/).
154 - better warning for x11 font encoding detection failures, also,
155 try to deduce encoding from both font properties and name
156 (adapted from http://achurch.org/patch-pile/).
157 - resizing the window with the scrollbar disabled via the escapes
158 sequence could make the window bigger again (Mikachu).
159 - make sure the alignment for fd passing control messages
160 is correct and work around some NetBSD issues (Taylor R Campbell).

165 - assertions in libev are now enabled depending on frills.
166 - update AnyEvent implementation to version 5.23 API.
167 - work around arrogant bsd idiocies again: netbsd spills the default
168 namespace with lots of symbols "for gnu/gcc compatibility" even
169 though neither of them does it, and then calls the rest of the world
170 in need of fixing. go figure.
171 - on_keyboard_command is on_user_command (patch by Michael Witten).
172 - setting the selection from perl will now reset the selection screen
173 to the current screen. the screen can be manipulated using
174 the new ->selection_screen method.

187 - do not (wrongly) adjust the virtual line length inside
188 scr_insdel_chars/ERASE (Miroslav Lichvar).
189 - fix an issue where wide tab characters caused character shifts
190 when part of them was deleted (tracked down by Miroslav Lichvar).
191 - artificially enlargen the previous character at the end of a line
192 when trying to output a character that doesn't fit. looks ugly, but

204 - try to work around linux first breaking sched_yield and now breaking
205 the only known workaround.
206 - new option -icon to set _NET_WM_ICON (based on patch by Frank Schmitt).
207 - initialise the as visual only on demand, instead of unconditionally,
208 to save memory in the common case of not using visual gimmicks.

210 client windows on hint property updates by temporarily
211 disabling size hints.
212 - implement the DECSTR soft reset sequence and use it for tput init,
213 and make hard RIS and DECSTR both reset more private modes, such
214 as mouse reporting.
215 - redundantly clear mouse reporting and a few other states in
216 tput init/tput reset, for older urxvts.
217 - partial/full clear screens did cause flickering and possibly pixel
218 droppings when urxvt viewed the scrollback buffer.
219 - use current rendition style in DCH sequence.
220 - the 132/80 mode switch no longer forces a screen reset.
221 - add an osc sequence to change the border colour (Emanuele Giaquinta).
222 - new perl extension "overlay-osc", for status displays and the like.
223 - fix some minor cursor drawing issues with overlays by allowing
224 overlays to modify screen flags (to disable the cursor themselves).

234 with more than 31 file descriptors on non-linux 64 bit systems.
235 - correctly reset the multibyte state to the initial one

237 issue of rxvt-unicode not properly displaying text after an illegal
238 sequence on NetBSD and probably other systems.
239 - more intelligent property handling with -pe tabbed, works around
240 broken window managers (kwm et al.), saves bandwidth and should

262
2639.0 Fri Jan 25 19:34:04 CET 2008
264 - fix a crash bug where urxvtd would crash when urxvtc was called
265 with wrong arguments (I wish debian maintainers in general would
266 report bugs and their proposed fixes to the original package maintainers
267 instead of sitting on them for good measure to see if anybody notices).

269 - correctly clear xft character background in all cases.
270 - implement bracketed paste mode (xterm private mode 2004).

286
2878.9 Mon Dec 24 07:51:40 CET 2007

302 options that shouldn't be compiled in, leading to interesting
303 effects.

305 symptom of urxvt not closing its window on shell exit. also
306 fixes a problem with urxvt not refreshing.
307 - the text blink callback was called even when no blinking
308 text was visible.
309 - pre-8.4 slipwheeling behaviour has been reinstated, with
310 some minor improvements.

314
3158.7 Sun Nov 25 10:23:49 CET 2007
316 - update libev with an important bugfix that would cause crashes
317 when closing windows (when using rxvtd, and update is recommended).
318 - do not compile in the block builtin graphics with --disable-frills.
319
3208.6 Fri Nov 23 14:10:57 CET 2007
321 - upgrade libev to disable kqueue on anything but netbsd as it
322 seems to be broken everywhere else w.r.t. ptys.
323 - allow for spurious event notifications, as at least epoll and
324 especially solaris ports like to lie about them (symptoms:
325 urxvt "hangs" until there is some x11 related activity).
326 - -keysym command line options are now subjected to xlib parsing.

337 - fix memory leak in pixmap code.
338 - fix a serious bug while setting the XIM destroy callback
339 on (typical) 64 bit systems.

341 geometry string. For example: rxvt -pixmap "image.jpg;:root"
342 - do not link rxvtc against every lib on the planet anymore.
343 - parallel builds should work once more.

382 - unbundled iom perl interface somewhat.
383 - scrollbar-xterm now uses the selected scrollColor instead of fg
384 (found by Aiviru).
385 - disabled linux kernel bug workaround again: disabling it gives
386 a 50% speed hit on affected machines, while enabling it gives
387 a similar speed hit to screen, which is likely the more common
388 case to work around for :/
389 - urxvt::rend2mask perl function, and utilization of it by matcher
390 (patch by Moshe Kamensky).

404 meet user expectancies (#aaa becomes #a000a000a000 not #9f9f9f9f9f9f).
405 - change the starting offset of the pixmap set with backgroundPixmap
406 from (50,50) to (0,0) (exg).

427 - combining characters cleared the area instead of creating an overlay,
428 thus losing the ability to draw combining characters properly in most
429 circumstances (reported by exg).
430 - specified fonts were incorrectly morphed to bold/italic according to the
431 basefont, even if explicitly specified (tracked down by tpope).
432 - fixed urxvt::strwidth to calculate width in the same way as screen.C.
433 - fix a crash caused by passing negative widths to overlay functions.
434 - added 'matcher' extension by tpope, replacing the mark-urls extension.
435 - improve url regex to match anything www.* (tpope).
436 - fixed bug with outline cursor color being wrong after xft fonts.
437 - update to libptytty-1.0.
438 - give proper diagnostic when RXVT_SOCKET is too long instead of
439 corrupting the stack (patch by exg).
440 - display current terminal locale in option menu.
441 - urxvtd no longer crashes when the client sends an inaccessible
442 working directory (reported by Roland Baer, possibly fixes gentoo
443 bug #143985).
444 - fixed many minor issues reported by Roland Baer.
445 - Leonid Khramov spotted a minor glitch in rxvtfont.C that
446 should not have any consequences, but was buggy nonetheless.
447 - manpage fix by exg.
448
4497.9 Mon Aug 7 18:16:07 CEST 2006
450 - fix the crashing bug people encountered with 7.8 + urxvtd + perl
451 + transparency. Ought to fix debian bug #380348.
452 - fix urxvtc.1.pod: it actually claimed -pty-fd would not work. But
453 it does! :->
454 - rxvt_fatal() in case the locale string is too long for our static buffer.
455 - fixed many, many, typos in the manpages (patch supplied by ves).
456
4577.8 Mon Jul 17 21:00:46 CEST 2006
458 - INCOMPATIBLE CHANGE: this version will always read ~/.Xdefaults,
459 earlier versions only read it if display-resources (usually from
460 .Xresources) are not set. This avoids the #1 FAQ ("why isn't my
461 resource used") and seems to be logical behaviour, too. .Xdefaults
462 resources have a lower priority than display-specific resources.
463 - add "kuake" perl extension that does a similar thing to the kuake
464 terminal emulator (see man urxvtperl).
465 - use less "correct" color scaling that is compatible with libX11 and
466 Xft (avoids off-by-one colors resulting in striped backgrounds).
467 - the "depth" resource is now respected.
468 - preset the searchable-scrollback pattern with "(?i)" to default search
469 to case-insensitivity. Will automatically be cleared when typing an
470 uppercase character.
471 - add FORCE_UNBUFFERED_XFT define to features.h.
472 - re-enabled highlightcolor support with --enable-frills, based on
473 a patch by Martin Stubenschrott.
474 - double-buffered xft drawing did suffer from pixel offset issues
475 when pixmap transparency was enabled.
476 - strategically add # to the url-match regexes, as we really want to
477 match common URIs not common URLs. Reported by Aaron Griffin.
478 - moved on_osc_seq to on_osc_seq_perl and added a more
479 generic osc_seq.
480 - fix a bug causing double callback invocations when perl hooks
481 were invoked recursively.
482 - the automove-background extension now properly works when the
483 pixmap gets reset with an osc sequence (sqweek).
484 - selection-pastebin did not work properly with non-latin1-characters.
485 - apply colorUL only when the text colour is the default fg
486 (patch by Wu Fengguang).
487 - removed rxvtlib.h from the tarball, it had no reason to be there
488 (spotted by Decklin Foster).
489 - fix compiling with TRANSPARENT but !XPM_BACKGROUND, as reported
490 by omatunto_.
491 - slap in a using namespace std, might help on platforms that don't
492 follow C++ closely enough.
493 - fix mailto url regex, spotted within milliseconds by Jost Krieger.
494 - applied fade_color_update_func.patch by WU Fengguang.
495 - fix a bug where (due to an optimisation in av_delete), hiding the
496 bottom-most overlay would hide two overlays.
497
4987.7 Tue Feb 21 12:32:49 CET 2006
499 - use double-buffered drawing (xft fonts only). On many driver/hardware
500 combination this actually increases xft drawing speed, at the expense
501 of more network bandwidth and slight nausea on the side of the author.
502 - readline perl extension now requires shift-click instead of a normal
503 click, and eats the click.
504 - tabbed perl extension now supports -e.
505 - disabled graphics-exposures on the main drawing GC, report any
506 refresh bugs please.
507 - improve property handling for -pe tabbed: avoid unnecessary property
508 changes (for kde's benefit) at the expense of extra round-trips,
509 improve size hint setting.
510 - modified XIM according to a patch sent by Takano Akio that sets
511 the preedit rectangle for OverTheSpot, which helps some input methods
512 to correctly position their preedit window.
513 - un-optimise the line clearing on newly scrolled-in lines a bit: the
514 former reasoning was that any fg colour on default bg looks the same
515 in empty spaces, but that's not true when reversing (e.g. selection),
516 so also check for matching fg colours. This fixes the problem where
517 selecting newly scrolled-in lines would exhibit wrong colours.
518 - fix a bug in the perl interface causing focus in events to generate
519 focus out perl events, causing bad focus effects with -pe tabbed.
520 - fix a race resulting in a crash on exiting.
521 - fix a with --disable-xft that caused xfreecolors to be called on
522 colors never allocated, resulting in aborts (reported by Paco-Paco).
523 - resources on non-initial screens weren't refetched correctly
524 (reported by Paco-Paco).
525 - fix a bug in xcopyarea pass and _disable_ it, as it seems not to be
526 working in either rxvt-unicode nor in the original rxvt.
527 - removed undocumented -exec alias for the -e option.
528
5297.6 Fri Feb 10 08:52:36 CET 2006
530 - changed interpretation of [alpha] colour prefix.
531 - +option now really sets the option to default, instead of using the
532 resource value.
533 - options that require an argument now really _require_ an argument.
534 - the tabbed extension now forwards focus and key events to the
535 relevant tab window.
536 - tab colours are now configurable and have sensible defaults
537 (initial patch by hednod).
538 - option menu is extendable, readline, selection and
539 selection-autotransform can now be disabled/enabled at runtime.
540 - forcing a configure event to tabbed subwindows with -pe tabbed, for
541 the benefit of automove-background.
542 - the automove-background extension added a wrong constant offset.
543 - force refresh of XA_RESOURCE_STRING on virtual reconnect.
544 - return exit status 2 in urxvtc when urxvtd couldn't be contacted.
545 - the linux yield hack is back, now using usleep, and enabled only on
546 __linux__.
547 - further round trip eliminations in the !XFT case by remembering
548 the colour components.
549 - plain scrollbar works better with -sr.
550 - fixed half-shadow scrollbar look.
551 - more colour rtt optimisations.
552 - properly(?) free colours on window close.
553 - reorganised the FAQ into multiple sections.
554 - add ISO646.1991-IRV to the list of supported codesets.
555 - minor libptytty update.
556
5577.5 Tue Jan 31 15:15:43 CET 2006
558 - further improvements to the careful mode detection, and font width
559 detection:
560 - fully double-wide fonts will now be correctly treated,
561 - overlap detection was improved.
562 - detect totally broken fonts (usually synthesized by xft).
563 - careful mode forced refresh sometimes clashed with blinking,
564 causing unnecessary screen redraws.
565 - better handling of XFT combining characters.
566 - enable antialiasing for some replacement fonts, as they
567 might get used for other encodings which really need it, later.
568 - remove spacing=100 from all default fonts, as this creates totally
569 weird spacing (5 times normal) with xft.
570 - removed iso10646 fallback, as xorgs iso10646 encoded fonts are mostly
571 broken.
572 - removed gnu unifont fallback, all combining characters are broken.
573 - replace named colours by xorg's rgb.txt equivalents, to
574 reduce round trip time on startup, and short-cut allocation
575 of rgb:rr/gg/bb for xft.
576 - short-cut allocation of rgb values in the xlib case
577 (patch by Paco-Paco).
578 - overhauled color management: smaller codesize, alpha support.
579 - support "rgba:rrrr/gggg/bbbb/aaaa" color specifications and
580 an "[alpha]" prefix.
581 - try to work around Xft and Xrender forcing everything to be 100%
582 transparent. Long Live Xft!
583 - do not include X11/Intrinsic.h anymore, directly use
584 Xlib/Xutil/Xresource directly.
585 - try to find a nearest matching color when color allocation fails
586 on a pseudocolor screen.
587 - SYNCCVS: compared to rxvt-cvs 2006-01-28, no relevant changes.
588 - fix version report (DA) (which was unfortunately broken).
589 - changed version number report again, now to emulate xterm closer.
590 - added the OSC sequence 702 to detect the urxvt version number.
591 - small configure updates.
592 - further RTT optimisations.
593 - backported clean-up patches for makefiles and documentation from
594 the debian package.
595 - updated doc/rxvt-unicode.spec file. It's still not maintained here,
596 but much newer than the old one.
597
5987.4 Sat Jan 28 15:26:27 CET 2006
599 - screen background wasn't always erased properly when scrolling,
600 - re-enabled clearing optimisation disabled in 7.4pre.
601 - small configure updates for libptytty.
602 - fixed version options: line output.
603 - removed stoopid debugging message left in the code.
604
6057.3 Wed Jan 25 22:47:35 CET 2006
606 - don't let iso14755 or mouse reporting get into the way of perl
607 (could lead to global grabs never being cleared).
608 - experimental OnTheSpot editing support (-pe xim-onthespot).
609 - moved Shift-Button2 paste combination to Meta-Button2.
610 - the cutchars resource will now be respected and used by the
611 selection extension.
612 - added the "remote-clipboard" extension which just runs external
613 commands to fetch and store the selection data.
614 - added -depth switch that tries to get a different visual depth
615 than the default (replaces the old PREFER_24_BIT logic).
616 - removed (unused) arabic presentation form composing sequences.
617 - be more strict when deciding that a core font glyph is too wide and
618 needs the careful rendering mode.
619 - allow more leeway for italic fonts when deciding that a character is
620 too wide and needs careful mode.
621 - redraw even more characters around characters using careful mode.
622 - made selection-pastebin fully asynchronous.
623 - reduced number of server turnarounds at startup by allocating
624 atoms only once per display.
625 - renamed on_keyboard_command to on_user_command.
626 - changed version sos (ESC [ > c) response to be more compatible with
627 xterm.
628
6297.2 Sun Jan 22 21:58:16 CET 2006
630 - bugfix: urxvt (not urxvtd) did not correctly handle multiple
631 environments necessary, which resulted in segfaults within
632 getenv (reproducable: urxvt -fn 9x15, open a menu once,
633 ctrl-shift-672c).
634 - bugfix: the selection speedup in in 7.1 unfortunately caused
635 non-ascii characters to enlarge/move the selection.
636 - bugfix: resizing sometimes leaked lines from the secondary to
637 the primary screen.
638 - bugfix: reducing window size while large amounts of text were output
639 could lead to an assertion failure.
640 - added "tabbed" extension that provides a crude tabbed terminal.
641 - added "readline" extension that allows cursor positioning
642 via mouse clicks.
643 - now it is possible to insert the value of the CLIPBOARD selection
644 with shift - mouse button 2.
645 - fixed the automove-background extension to ignore coordinates
646 in non-synthetic events.
647 - created a separate libpty for portable and secure
648 pty/tty/utmp/wtmp/lastlog handling, and include it in rxvt-unicode.
649 - the non-terminfo visual bell now works asynchronously, so
650 continuous ASCI BELs in one terminal do no longer monopolise the
651 whole urxvt[d] process.
652 - support some *BSD makes (for the time being, gnu make is a safe bet).
653 - work around bugs in FreeBSD's gcc.
654 - implemented some *BSD fixes in configure.
655 - removed support for obsolete offix dnd protocol.
656
6577.1 Thu Jan 19 20:25:34 CET 2006
658 - setuid/setgid operation is now _encouraged_: security has been
659 improved by moving privileged operations into a separate process
660 and permanently dropping privileges within the terminal. This
661 makes it possible to remove security checks from the perl code
662 and gives a much safer feeling when urxvt needs to run with
663 special privileges.
664 - perl taint checking disabled, as urxvt no longer runs setuid/setgid
665 itself.
666 - new perl extension automove-background that can be used to get
667 the same effect as pseudo-transparency with any pixmap.
668 - new perl extension example: perl/selection-pastebin, can be used to
669 e.g. upload the selection to a webserver and generate a url, or
670 similar stuff.
671 - use the scrollback buffer even when the scroll region doesn't
672 span the whole screen, as long as it starts at row 0. Helps
673 for programs displaying a status line at the bottom.
674 - selection popup now shows selection in dec/hex/oct.
675 - perl/selection: matching on unicode characters in the selection
676 code was O(n²), which equals infinity in some degenerate cases
677 :-> Matching is now done on UTF-8, which makes it almost instant.
678 - perl/selection, perl/selection-autotransform: regexes are now
679 being interpreted in the locale urxvt was started.
680 - implemented override-redirect option and enabled it on menus,
681 as kwin puts our windows behind the terminal (what a shoddy wm).
682 - fixed struct utmp check in configure for OpenBSD.
683 - complete overhaul of the pty/utmp management stuff and configure
684 (Emanuele Giaquinta=exg).
685 - add tsl/fsl and related capabilities to the terminfo description,
686 to set the window title.
687 - swap the environment in some more cases. This hopefully fixes
688 some segfaults that might be caused by xft asking for env variables
689 at the wrong time.
690 - removed src/strings.C and src/menubar.C. No menubar support
691 anymore.
692 - removed all traces of SMOOTH_REFRESH.
693 - nuked QNX support.
694 - made some fixes to xpm offset and scaling code.
695 - perl-overlays and refresh hooks were not applied in correct order.
696 - changed coordinate-system of view_start/nsaved to be top to bottom.
697 - iom extended to support listening for child exits.
698
6997.0 Fri Jan 13 14:02:18 CET 2006
700 - added sections for DISTRIBUTION MAINTAINERS and about
701 SETUID/SETGID to the FAQ.
702 - selection, searchable-scrollback, selection-popup and
703 option-popup extensions enabled by default.
704 - increased xft drawing speed for problematic fonts. The effect
705 will likely be small as 99% of the xft slowness is server-related.
706 - perl: much increased functionality, better overlays, popup support
707 and much much more.
708 - perl: urxvt::line now can set via ->t and ->r.
709 - perl: changed interpretation of --perl-ext-common and -pe.
710 - perl: finally implemented --perl-eval.
711 - perl: non-blocking anyevent support.
712 - perl: run tainted and ignore perl-eval/perl-lib if started
713 setuid/setgid.
714 - free the resource database: this plugs a massive memory leak. As a
715 side effect, it also gets rid of XGetDefault calls.
716 - free one of the cursors, fixes a small memory leak.
717 - built-in (as opposed to terminfos) visual bell was broken/too fast.
718 - applied minor cleanups by Ladislav Michnovic.
719 - applied pty handling cleanups and improvements (Emanuele Giaquinta).
720 - mark-urls launch-on-click by jepler.
721 - removed "small" resource parsing function, as it wasn't really
722 compatible, and not really small either.
723 - removed PATH_ENV and PATH file search support.
724 - removed support for locale-specific app-defaults file.
725 - fixed a bug where out-of-bounds colour sequences could lead
726 to crashes.
727 - limit colour changing to the standard 88 palette instead of all
728 colours.
729 - XTerm_Color01 sequence returned wrong results in query mode.
730 - iom.C now checks against destructed io_manager when unregistering.
731
7326.3 Wed Jan 4 22:37:10 CET 2006
733 - SECURITY FIX: on systems using openpty, permissions were
734 not correctly updated on the tty device and were left as
735 world-readable and world-writable (likely in original rxvt,
736 too), and were not restored properly. Affected are only
737 systems where non-unix ptys were used (such as most BSDs, not
738 GNU/Linux). (found, patched and debugged by Ryan Beasley).
739 - meta8 support was forcefully enabled in most configurations.
740 restored configurability of this (useless) feature (reported
741 by Mikachu).
742 - optionally embed a perl interpreter, which can be used for more
743 intelligent/customized selection support, visual feedback,
744 menus, tabs etc. See the the urxvtperl manpage, the -pe option,
745 perl*-resources and keysym resources. Not everything is there yet.
746 - try to be more clever about differing font sizes and their ascent.
747 Not guarenteed to work, but works better in most cases now.
748 - fix directory permissions on install.
749 - implemented option to disable built-in line drawing characters
750 and fall back to the font ones (patch by Martin Pohlack).
751 - disabled sched_yield support: the linux version is just too useless
752 (it schedules nice'd processes before the own one for extended
753 periods). Too bad, it could reduce system time by a factor of 5 here.
754
7556.2 Mon Jan 2 16:03:01 CET 2006
756 - implemented intensityStyles option which enables/disables bold/blink
757 selecting high intensity foreground/background colours, suggested by
758 Chuck Blake.
759 - move iso14755 character feedback box out of the way if it would
760 obscure the mouse cursor position.
761 - replaced callback.h by a fixed version from gvpe that correctly
762 returns the callback result (affects new -pty-fd semantics in urxvtc
763 on a few architectures). Reported by darix.
764 - include one trailing space in rectangular selections to indicate
765 the inserted newline (yeah, weird, but visually more pleasing).
766 - try to use sched_yield to (drastically) improve terminal data
767 transfer efficiency.
768 - further minor cleanups.
769
7706.1 Tue Dec 27 13:23:40 CET 2005
771 - update iso8859-7 table (euro and drachma round-trip et al.).
772 - fix a crash when the selection scrolls out of the scrollback
773 while the user still drags.
774 - selections that were partially scrolled out of the window were
775 not drawn correctly.
776 - lines newly scrolled in were not initialized properly, leading
777 to extremely long lines and (hopefully) some segfaults.
778 - iso14755 overlay position was wrong.
779 - iso14755 overlay now displays rendition info, too.
780 - use unicode white space class instead of hardcoded values for
781 stripping whitespace.
782 - do whitespace stripping on rectangular selections.
783 - slight cleanups in src/features.h.
784
7856.0 Sat Dec 24 13:58:56 CET 2005
786 - make it compile without SMART_RESIZE again.
787 - enable slow link support by default.
788 - fix relative cursor-positioning not respecting scrolling regions
789 (also a bug in original rxvt).
790 - initialize termios structure to zero when fetching it fails
791 (see http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=84647 for a
792 partial patch).
793 - bump max columns/rows to 10000 each.
794 - bump max savelines to 10000000.
795 - -pty-fd now passes the urxvtc fd to the urxvtd process.
796 - avoid linking against -lnsl/-lsocket/-lxpg4 unless neccessary.
797 - major code cleanup (still not complete, though).
798 - implement -hold option.
799 - _major_ rewrite of internal buffer handling:
800 - re-flow on resize, lines get wrapped instead of winged.
801 - circular line buffer (substantially speeds up scrolling).
802 - slightly less code + data memory usage per terminal.
803 - slight overall speed improvements.
804 - considerably improved code clarity.
805 - partial-screen scrolls no longer end up in the scrollback
806 buffer.
807
8085.9 Sat Dec 17 21:53:17 CET 2005
809 - fix a bug in the menu code of unknown impact, found by darix.
810 - clean up signal handling to be global, not per terminal
811 (matters only for rxvtd).
812 - fix small typoe in rxvt.1 (found by Mike Fabian).
813 - don't crash when broken xft/fontconfig/freetype versions return
814 bogus data, ignore the xft font instead (experienced on suse).
815
8165.8 Tue Oct 25 22:21:45 CEST 2005

18 windows. 827 windows.
828 - text with background==foreground colour gets displayed with default
829 bg/fg now when in reverse video, so it can be seen when selecting.
830 - allow koi8r* as x11 encoding name for koi8r (Nikita Danilov).
831 - removed undocumented inheritPixmapforce option.
832 - replaced INSTALL file.
