197.2 22TODO: investigate -pe tabbed -g 80x25 being 23 not 24 or 25 lines
20 - removed support for obsolete offix dnd protocol. 23TODO: zero scorllback buffer should free memory

31TODO: read .Xdefaults even when we have display resources, but give them lower priority
32 - add FORCE_UNBUFFERED_XFT define to features.h.
33 - double-buffered xft drawing did suffer from pixel offset issues
34 when pixmap transparency was enabled.
35 - moved on_osc_seq to on_osc_seq_perl and added a more
36 generic osc_seq.
37 - fix a bug causing double callback invocations when perl hooks
38 were invoked recursively.
39 - the automove-background extension now properly works when the
40 pixmap gets reset with an osc sequence (sqweek).
41 - selection-pastebin did not work properly with non-latin1-characters.
42 - apply colorUL only when the text colour is the default fg
43 (patch by Wu Fengguang).
44 - removed rxvtlib.h from the tarball, it had no reason to be there
45 (spotted by Decklin Foster).
46 - fix compiling with TRANSPARENT but !XPM_BACKGROUND, as reported
47 by omatunto_.
48 - slap in a using namespace std, might help on platforms that don't
49 follow C++ closely enough.
50 - fix mailto url regex, spotted within milliseconds by Jost Krieger.
51 - use less "correct" color scaling that is compatible with libX11 and Xft
52 (avoids off-by-one colors resulting in striped backgrounds).
53
547.7 Tue Feb 21 12:32:49 CET 2006
55 - use double-buffered drawing (xft fonts only). On many driver/hardware
56 combination this actually increases xft drawing speed, at the expense
57 of more network bandwidth and slight nausea on the side of the author.
58 - readline perl extension now requires shift-click instead of a normal
59 click, and eats the click.
60 - tabbed perl extension now supports -e.
61 - disabled graphics-exposures on the main drawing GC, report any
62 refresh bugs please.
63 - improve property handling for -pe tabbed: avoid unnecessary property
64 changes (for kde's benefit) at the expense of extra round-trips,
65 improve size hint setting.
66 - modified XIM according to a patch sent by Takano Akio that sets
67 the preedit rectangle for OverTheSpot, which helps some input methods
68 to correctly position their preedit window.
69 - un-optimise the line clearing on newly scrolled-in lines a bit: the
70 former reasoning was that any fg colour on default bg looks the same
71 in empty spaces, but thats not true when reversing (e.g. selection),
72 so also check for matching fg colours. This fixes the problem where
73 selecting newly scrolled-in lines would exhibit wrong colours.
74 - fix a bug in the perl interface causing focus in events to generate
75 focus out perl events, causing bad focus effects with -pe tabbed.
76 - fix a race resulting in a crash on exiting.
77 - fix a with --disable-xft that caused xfreecolors to be called on
78 colors never allocated, resulting in aborts (reported by Paco-Paco).
79 - resources on non-initial screens weren't refetched correctly
80 (reported by Paco-Paco).
81 - fix a bug in xcopyarea pass and _disable_ it, as it seems not to be
82 working in either rxvt-unicode nor in the original rxvt.
83 - removed undocumented -exec alias for the -e option.
84
857.6 Fri Feb 10 08:52:36 CET 2006
86 - changed interpretation of [alpha] colour prefix.
87 - +option now really sets the option to default, instead of using the
88 resource value.
89 - options that require an argument now really _require_ an argument.
90 - the tabbed extension now forwards focus and keys events to th
91 relevant tab window.
92 - tab colours are now configurable and have sensible defaults
93 (initial patch by hednod).
94 - option menu is extendable, readline, selection and
95 selection-autotransform can now be disabled/enabled at runtime.
96 - forcing a configure event to tabbed subwindows with -pe tabbed, for
97 the benefit of automove-background.
98 - the automove-background extension added a wrong constant offset.
99 - force refresh of XA_RESOURCE_STRING on virtual reconnect.
100 - return exit status 2 in urxvtc when urxvtd couldn't be contacted.
101 - the linux yield hack is back, now using usleep, and enabled only on
102 __linux__.
103 - further round trip eliminations in the !XFT case by remembering
104 the colour components.
105 - plain scrollbar works better with -sr.
106 - fixed half-shadow scrollbar look.
107 - more colour rtt optimisations.
108 - properly(?) free colours on window close.
109 - reorganised the FAQ into multiple sections.
110 - add ISO646.1991-IRV to the list of supported codesets.
111 - minor libptytty update.
112
1137.5 Tue Jan 31 15:15:43 CET 2006
114 - further improvements to the careful mode detection, and font width
115 detection:
116 - fully double-wide fonts will now be correctly treated,
117 - overlap detection was improved.
118 - detect totally broken fonts (usually synthesized by xft).
119 - careful mode forced refresh sometimes clashed with blinking,
120 causing unnecessary screen redraws.
121 - better handling of XFT combining characters.
122 - enable antialiasing for some replacement fonts, as they
123 might get used for other encodings which really need it, later.
124 - remove spacing=100 from all default fonts, as this creates totally
125 weird spacing (5 times normal) with xft.
126 - removed iso10646 fallback, as xorgs iso10646 encoded fonts are mostly
127 broken.
128 - removed gnu unifont fallback, all combining characters are broken.
129 - replace named colours by xorg's rgb.txt equivalents, to
130 reduce round trip time on startup, and short-cut allocation
131 of rgb:rr/gg/bb for xft.
132 - short-cut allocation of rgb values in the xlib case
133 (patch by Paco-Paco).
134 - overhauled color management: smaller codesize, alpha support.
135 - support "rgba:rrrr/gggg/bbbb/aaaa" color specifications and
136 an "[alpha]" prefix.
137 - try to work around Xft and Xrender forcing everything to be 100%
138 transparent. Long Live Xft!
139 - do not include X11/Intrinsic.h anymore, directly use
140 Xlib/Xutil/Xresource directly.
141 - try to find a nearest matching color when color allocation fails
142 on a pseudocolor screen.
143 - SYNCCVS: compared to rxvt-cvs 2006-01-28, no relevant changes.
144 - fix version report (DA) (which was unfortunately broken).
145 - changed version number report again, now to emulate xterm closer.
146 - added the OSC sequence 702 to detect the urxvt version number.
147 - small configure updates.
148 - further RTT optimisations.
149
1507.4 Sat Jan 28 15:26:27 CET 2006
151 - screen background wasn't always erased properly when scrolling,
152 - re-enabled clearing optimisation disabled in 7.4pre.
153 - small configure updates for libptytty.
154 - fixed version options: line output.
155 - removed stoopid debugging message left in the code.
156
1577.3 Wed Jan 25 22:47:35 CET 2006
158 - don't let iso14755 or mouse reporting get into the way of perl
159 (could lead to global grabs never being cleared).
160 - experimental OnTheSpot editing support (-pe xim-onthespot).
161 - moved Shift-Button2 paste combination to Meta-Button2.
162 - the cutchars resource will now be respected and used by the
163 selection extension.
164 - added the "remote-clipboard" extension which just runs external
165 commands to fetch and store the selection data.
166 - added -depth switch that tries to get a different visual depth
167 than the default (replaces the old PREFER_24_BIT logic).
168 - removed (unused) arabic presentation form composing sequences.
169 - be more strict when deciding that a core font glyph is too wide and
170 needs the careful rendering mode.
171 - allow more leeway for italic fonts when deciding that a character is
172 too wide and needs careful mode.
173 - redraw even more characters around characters using careful mode.
174 - made selection-pastebin fully asynchronous.
175 - reduced number of server turnarounds at startup by allocating
176 atoms only once per display.
177 - renamed on_keyboard_command to on_user_command.
178 - changed version sos (ESC [ > c) response to be more compatible with
179 xterm.
180
1817.2 Sun Jan 22 21:58:16 CET 2006
182 - bugfix: urxvt (not urxvtd) did not correctly handle multiple
183 environments necessary, which resulted in segfaults within
184 getenv (reproducable: urxvt -fn 9x15, open a menu once,
185 ctrl-shift-672c).
186 - bugfix: the selection speedup in in 7.1 unfortunately caused
187 non-ascii characters to enlarge/move the selection.
188 - bugfix: resizing sometimes leaked lines from the secondary to
189 the primary screen.
190 - bugfix: reducing window size while large amounts of text were output
191 could lead to an assertion failure.
21 - added "tabbed" extension that provides a crude tabbed terminal. 192 - added "tabbed" extension that provides a crude tabbed terminal.
22 - added "readline" extension that allows cursor positioning 193 - added "readline" extension that allows cursor positioning
23 via mouse clicks. 194 via mouse clicks.
195 - now it is possible to insert the value of the CLIPBOARD selection
196 with shift - mouse button 2.
24 - fixed the automove-background extension to ignore coordinates 197 - fixed the automove-background extension to ignore coordinates
25 in non-synthetic events. 198 in non-synthetic events.
199 - created a separate libpty for portable and secure
200 pty/tty/utmp/wtmp/lastlog handling, and include it in rxvt-unicode.
201 - the non-terminfo visual bell now works asynchronously, so
202 continuous ASCI BELs in one terminal do no longer monopolise the
203 whole urxvt[d] process.
204 - support some *BSD makes (for the time being, gnu make is a safe bet).
205 - work around bugs in FreeBSD's gcc.
206 - implemented some *BSD fixes in configure.
207 - removed support for obsolete offix dnd protocol.
