20TODO: alsamixer/wild resize => secondary leaks into primary scrollback?
21 - bugfix: urxvt (not urxvtd) did not correctly handle multiple
22 environments necessary, which resulted in segfaults within
23 getenv (reproducable: urxvt -fn 9x15, open a menu once,
24 ctrl-shift-672c).
25 - bugfix: the selection speedup in in 7.1 unfortunately caused
26 non-ascii characters to enlarge/move the selection.
27 - added "tabbed" extension that provides a crude tabbed terminal.
28 - added "readline" extension that allows cursor positioning
29 via mouse clicks.
30 - now it is possible to insert the value of the CLIPBOARD selection
31 with shift - mouse button 2
32 - fixed the automove-background extension to ignore coordinates
33 in non-synthetic events.
34 - created a separate libpty for portable and secure
35 pty/tty/utmp/wtmp/lastlog handling.
36 - the non-terminfo visual bell is now done asynchronously, so
37 continuous ASCI BELs in one terminal do no longer monopolise the
38 whole urxvt[d] process.
39 - support some *BSD makes (for the time being, gnu make is a safe bet).
40 - work around bugs in FreeBSD's gcc.
41 - implemented some *BSD fixes in configure.
42 - removed support for obsolete offix dnd protocol.
43
447.1 Thu Jan 19 20:25:34 CET 2006
45 - setuid/setgid operation is now _encouraged_: security has been
46 improved by moving privileged operations into a separate process
47 and permanently dropping privileges within the terminal. This
48 makes it possible to remove security checks from the perl code
49 and gives a much safer feeling when urxvt needs to run with
50 special privileges.
51 - perl taint checking disabled, as urxvt no longer runs setuid/setgid
52 itself.
53 - new perl extension automove-background that can be used to get
54 the same effect as pseudo-transparency with any pixmap.
55 - new perl extension example: perl/selection-pastebin, can be used to
56 e.g. upload the selection to a webserver and generate a url, or
57 similar stuff.
58 - use the scrollback buffer even when the scroll region doesn't
59 span the whole screen, as long as it starts at row 0. Helps
60 for programs displaying a status line at the bottom.
61 - selection popup now shows selection in dec/hex/oct.
62 - perl/selection: matching on unicode characters in the selection
63 code was O(n²), which equals infinity in some degenerate cases
64 :-> Matching is now done on UTF-8, which makes it almost instant.
65 - perl/selection, perl/selection-autotransform: regexes are now
66 being interpreted in the locale urxvt was started.
67 - implemented override-redirect option and enabled it on menus,
68 as kwin puts our windows behind the terminal (what a shoddy wm).
69 - fixed struct utmp check in configure for OpenBSD.
70 - complete overhaul of the pty/utmp management stuff and configure
71 (Emanuele Giaquinta).
72 - add tsl/fsl and related capabilities to the terminfo description,
73 to set the window title.
74 - swap the environment in some more cases. This hopefully fixes
75 some segfaults that might be caused by xft asking for env variables
76 at the wrong time.
77 - removed src/strings.C and src/menubar.C. No menubar support
78 anymore.
79 - removed all traces of SMOOTH_REFRESH.
80 - nuked QNX support.
81 - made some fixes to xpm offset and scaling code.
82 - perl-overlays and refresh hooks were not applied in correct order.
83 - changed coordinate-system of view_start/nsaved to be top to bottom.
84 - iom extended to support listening for child exits.
85
867.0 Fri Jan 13 14:02:18 CET 2006
87 - added sections for DISTRIBUTION MAINTAINERS and about
88 SETUID/SETGID to the FAQ.
89 - selection, searchable-scrollback, selection-popup and
90 option-popup extensions enabled by default.
91 - increased xft drawing speed for problematic fonts. The effect
92 will likely be small as 99% of the xft slowness is server-related.
93 - perl: much increased functionality, better overlays, popup support
94 and much much more.
95 - perl: urxvt::line now can set via ->t and ->r.
96 - perl: changed interpretation of --perl-ext-common and -pe.
97 - perl: finally implemented --perl-eval.
98 - perl: non-blocking anyevent support.
99 - perl: run tainted and ignore perl-eval/perl-lib if started
100 setuid/setgid.
101 - free the resource database: this plugs a massive memory leak. As a
102 side effect, it also gets rid of XGetDefault calls.
103 - free one of the cursors, fixes a small memory leak.
104 - built-in (as opposed to terminfos) visual bell was broken/too fast.
105 - applied minor cleanups by Ladislav Michnovic.
106 - applied pty handling cleanups and improvements (Emanuele Giaquinta).
107 - mark-urls launch-on-click by jepler.
108 - removed "small" resource parsing function, as it wasn't really
109 compatible, and not really small either.
110 - removed PATH_ENV and PATH file search support.
111 - removed support for locale-specific app-defaults file.
112 - fixed a bug where out-of-bounds colour sequences could lead
113 to crashes.
114 - limit colour changing to the standard 88 palette instead of all
115 colours.
116 - XTerm_Color01 sequence returned wrong results in query mode.
117 - iom.C now checks against destructed io_manager when unregistering.

1196.3 Wed Jan 4 22:37:10 CET 2006
120 - SECURITY FIX: on systems using openpty, permissions were
121 not correctly updated on the tty device and were left as
122 world-readable and world-writable (likely in original rxvt,
123 too), and were not restored properly. Affected are only
124 systems where non-unix ptys were used (such as most BSDs, not
125 GNU/Linux). (found, patched and debugged by Ryan Beasley).
126 - meta8 support was forcefully enabled in most configurations.
127 restored configurability of this (useless) feature (reported
128 by Mikachu).

13 menus, tabs etc. See the urxvtperl manpage. 131 menus, tabs etc. See the the urxvtperl manpage, the -pe option,
132 perl*-resources and keysym resources. Not everything is there yet.
133 - try to be more clever about differing font sizes and their ascent.
134 Not guarenteed to work, but works better in most cases now.
14 - fix directory permissions on install. 135 - fix directory permissions on install.
15 - improved sched_yield support. 136 - implemented option to disable built-in line drawing characters
137 and fall back to the font ones (patch by Martin Pohlack).
138 - disabled sched_yield support: the linux version is just too useless
139 (it schedules nice'd processes before the own one for extended
140 periods). Too bad, it could reduce system time by a factor of 5 here.
