7 pippijn 1.1
About the Game Server on cf.schmorp.de

8
9
This crossfire2 server is
10 located in southern germany and has a fast connection :)

11
12
Its main purpose, besides being fun to play, is to demo the
13 specific versions of the server, archetypes and maps used by
14 crossfire2. All files can be freely downloaded via CVS on the <a
15 href="http://software.schmorp.de/pkg/cf.schmorp.de.html">the crossfire2 project
16 page.

17
18
It is especially suited for beginners who do not want to experience a
19 very sharp and frustrating learning curve and party players who want to
20 play together more easily.

21
22

23
24
Death is not permanent.

25
26
Death causes no stats depletion and little experience points loss.

27
28
Friendly fire causes no damage.

29
30
Pet monsters and summoned creatures will not stand in the way of other
31 party members, making it bearable to play with summoning skills in a
32 party.

33
34
The crossfire maps can be viewed interactively at <a
35 href="http://cfmaps.schmorp.de/">cfmaps.schmorp.de.

36
37
Player-killing is allowed, but only when both players are hostile. To change
38 your hostile setting, you have to visit the church of valriel or the church of gorokh.

39
40
If you want to try out a map on a public server, feel free to send it in.

41
42
Map and graphics artists are working on improved graphics and new maps and quests.

43
44
Due to the filthy ;) code quality, the server restarts automatically
45 after a crash (within one minute).

46
47
Emergency saves are disabled.

48
49
You can reach the admins via IRC: server irc.schmorp.de (alternatively irc.plan9.de), channel #schmorp, user(s) schmorp
50 elmex.

51
You can reach the admins via E-Mail: crossfire@schmorp.de.

52
53
We are sometimes running the release, sometimes a CVS (not latest CVS)
54 snapshot with some patches applied. If you encounter problems fixed in a
55 newer snapshot feel free to report it.

56
57
Player files and other variable data is backed up nightly to two
58 different locations.

59
60

61
62
How to Get Started

63
64
First you have to download one of the clients. At the moment we recommend either the GTK Client or JCrossClient.

65
66

67 Get it running, connect, and keep the documentation handy.
68 Initially, when you create your character, you want to refer to the Character Guide.
69 Later you want to consult the Handbook
70 and Survival Guide.
71 The Map Guide is of great help when exploring the City of Scorn and other areas.
72

73
74
In general, cf.schmorp.de works like any other
75 Crossfire server, and almost all the resources at <a
76 href="http://crossfire.real-time.com/">the original crossfire site can be applied to this server.

77
78
How to Connect

79
80

81 To connect to the server using e.g. cfclient or gcfclient, use this command:
82

83
84

85 gcfclient -server crossfire.schmorp.de
86

87
or maybe...

88

89 gcfclient -server crossfire.schmorp.de -mapsize 19x19 -cache
90

91
or you could use cfclient or any other <a
92 href="http://crossfire.real-time.com/clients/">crossfire client. Using
93 gcfclient with SDL is recommended, though, so you can see the nicely
94 anti-aliased graphics.

95
96
If you use Debian GNU/Linux, you can find the clients
97 in the crossfire-server-x11 and crossfire-server-gtk packages.
98
